Can't afford an evo.
Keep your eyes open for a descent used one while you wait your two years, I picked up my '03 for $25,500 out the door with less than 2,000 mi on it, I could not afford a new one either. I kept it for two years and I just rescently sold it for a new '07 Legacy GT, I got $19,500 for the evo trade in.
hahah get a subaru...
like i did then you'll get the hang of the awd then make you choice from there. The early model imprezas are alot of fun to drive and are in the price range of a 18 yr old...
i'm gonna end up buyin a evo any ways.. i have good job now and can afford it..

talon wtf.. yo if u wanna get a track car.. get a civic hatchback... from there upgrade its suspension, get a lighter flywheel, intake, n if u want a turbo... but dat **** would book it with out the turbo... slight mods will make the civic boogie... pm if u want more info bout hookin up a civic
nothing is more bang for the buck than a civic with a cheep home made turbo kit. all of it will probably cost you less than 5k
my friend has a civic hatch with a cheep $1,000 turbo kit and that car is fast for what it is. it can trap 105mph is the 1/4. (210whp) it handles good. and if the motor blows stock d seris motors are only like $200.00. he beats the **** out of it and theres never any problems.

Ehh,
A $8k LS1 fbody will run low 13s STOCK (some high 12s)- no need for mods and it's RWD.
A $8k 4.6 GT or Cobra will run high 13s stock.
A $6k LT1 fbody will run high 13s-low14s stock.
A $4k 5.0 Mustang will run mid 14's stock.
With the horror stories I've seen and heard - I'd stay away from DSMs unless you can find one owned by a little old lady (I'd still be skeptical). A Civic hatch is a crusty econo car that runs 17s. By the time you invest your time and money into making it fast, you could've had something that was stock and just as fast or faster.
