I want to see the SS take on the new Porsche GT2. I wonder who'd win?

Sort of, if you're off boost, there's still a lag as the turbo spools. Granted, it's not much, but it still has an effect.

Its so raw its almost a track use only type car and is hardly refined enough to use as a daily driver.

For 100K you will get a car that will out perform anything withing 5x that price range.... and lets not forget the current 06 is already in the 10s with just drag radials with 450whp stock.. imagine what this car will do and the fact that you can just dial in the boost, run a smaller pulley etc... should make take no effort to reach 700whp.
I agree, the GT500 is slower in every category, but I was just using it to make a point that all of the big 3 just keep pushin their #'s higher and higher. While it is the slowest, I forget which mag did the comparison, but they actually chose the GT500 over the vette because of its everyday practicality ( 4 seats, easier ride, all that stuff) I think all 3 are great cars and each with little modification are absolute beasts. I know I read a few months after the cars initial release there was already a guy with a GT500 with like 4k in mods on slicks running in the 9's. So they all have alot of potential.

But I personally dont consider a Mustang to be a muscle car, why? Simply because back in the day muscle cars were just normal cars with powerful v8's stuffed in them, but they still had their normal everyday counterparts. The mustang and other cars like the camaro were designed to be a sports car right from the get go. But thats just my opinion. I guess you could call it "modern muscle" but w/e, just doesnt do it for me.

yes modern muscle maybe more appropriate.. the engine is clearly amazing but whats even more exciting is that mustang may be bringing out the boss mustang as more of a track variant .. that would be great! When I say the GT500 is a muscle car, im pointing out the fixed rear axel.. which enthusiast wanted and has its advantages, like being bullet proof for one.. but that type of setup begs to be pointed out as a muscle car.. i dont really see anything wrong with that name, but its certaintly no where as grippy other performance cars for the same amount...all that $$$ was invested into that amazing engine.

I dont think either the corvette of the GT500 make very good daily drivers.. ones obviously a two seater and has no room, works for me but I typically ride my bike to work... the GT500 on the other hand has more room, but umm.. MPG?

The SS is targeted at dethrowning the ultimate porshe.. Carrera GT. same performance for 1/5 the price... but definately not the same exotic look.

Its better on a daily basis IMO... small example, once you start modding evos the car can become less responsive unless you floor it.. I had to really stand on the throttle to get the car to go. It felt great when I was out to have fun, I needed a little break from the lag after 3 years., however in a car like the evo.. FI is clearly the way to go as it helps to keep the weight balance reasonable.

FYI.. the best the evo ever felt was partial back to stock with cams and the stock DP..im convinved these huge downpipes kill the spool time and make the car feel sluggish.

In turbo applications the larger the diameter of the exhaust the more responsive the turbo will be. Backpressure is the enemy with turbo motors. Backpressure increases lag.

that's a ricer argument because u dont own a real ss vette. some people dont want to mod a car and rather have the real thing. its like a srt4 or evo beating a bolt on c6 z06. yea you're pretty fast and all but u dont own the z06. just sayin.. i love all the above mentioned cars.

Is this the Saleen Parnelli Jones Boss Mustang? or a different version? Because Ive seen the PJ edition at the local Ford dealership, and I got real excited to see a 302 in it, but then I made my way around to the window and saw the sticker. They can keep it for $62,000. Isn't it kind of weird that the biggest engine you can get in a mustang is a 302 now when you used to be able to get all the way up to the Boss 429. Lame...lol Cmon Ford...make a Boss 302 for like mid 20's.

What the f*ck is your deal?

I was comparing the prices of both cars, I cant justify possibly an additional $75,000 over the Z06 for 150hp, some minor body work, and SS badges. I was saying, if you want more power in your vette, get a Z06 and bolt on a few parts.

I understand the whole status symbol thing, that's not what I'm saying, I, me personally cant justify the cost. For the work that's been done, it's not worth it IMO.

Is that ignorant?

Should I have to spell that out for you?

Your an ***.

Keep in mind - the SS will come with a 100k warranty.....so that is 650hp that will be repaired for free if it breaks.

If going as fast as possible is your only goal, buy the Z06 or better yet, buy a $41k C6 and put $10-15k in it.
