The IHI I got from Japan for $350 (including shipping) The other smaller one was way more rare and expensive and was $600.. I will be contacting the vendor about purchasing more of them if there is actually some interest.

Once I have the turbo here, and can look at which one i want to use for the project, I'll make some templates for flanges and have some cut.

About 200 pounds dry with the stock engine (which weighs about 25 pounds) the new engine weighs 70 pounds, but is twice the horsepower and displacement. I'd say its about 300 pounds give or take. Very very light, which is why its clasified as a scooter/moped. The new engine is a 5 speed, with a manual clutch, the old engine is a 4 speed semi-automatic (centrifugal clutch) so the final drive will alllow greater top-end with the current gearing. Stock this guy can do about 50-60 so I'd figure it'll be able to run at highway speeds, only the bike doesn thave the suspension for it (its a rigid with springer front end..)

BTW The engine showed this morning, its a bit larger than I expected but should still fit the frame without modification.

The part that is going to suck is the minor welding I'd need to make to attach brackets to the frame, as its chrome plated. I'm hoping to devise motor mounts that don't require welding so this can be made into a true conversion kit that I can reproduce.

At the very least I have two engines and two turbos, this bike will be turbocharged in some way when I'm done with it.

The interesting thing is I've already generated some real interest in the project, so I'm hoping that it helps get my name out there.

The whole point of "Choppers"/Bobbers are they are constructed of available parts (at least in the traditional sense) and that is what I'm doing.

Light bikes are terrible for highway driving, but I just prefer the nimble feeling of a light dirt bike as opposed to a heavy VTwin cruiser. Its funny because most guys move off "Beginner bikes" like my VLX/VT600 (same size and weight as a Sportster 883, maybe slightly larger) but I just never liked the feel and balance of the heavier bikes. Probably because of their higher center of gravity also. The triumph is the only other bike that felt "light" given its size and weight.

Check out the Bloush turbo website, they have an in-house employee project or two with a turbo go-kart and turbo pocket bike. I found their link after I started researching my bike. Mine doesn't qualify as a pocket bike, its actually 6.5 feet long and is the size of a regular motorcycle.

Woohoo, found another "recycled" component in my garage to use as an oil tank. Its a weapon-R power steering reservoir that I never used (its actually a nice product, just wasn't in the mood to make a mess installing it)

Its just the right size and layout to use as an oil reserve tank.

That is awesome. I'm working on a similar project with my 1969 Honda Z50 restoration. My buddy was going to fabricate a turbo system for it, but I haven't found the right turbo. Where did you get it? I'm going with the Lifan 125cc.
