No more EVO.......

I was out looking around for an S2000 to replace my Miata and made the mistake of test driving an '06 Vette............ To make a long story short, I gave them my '05 MR with 36K miles and $20K for this....

That is the worst sticker I've ever seen a dealership put on a car.

Enjoy, it's a fun car.

May I suggest removing the dealership decal as well as the GM decals behind the doors which don't flow well at all

Beautiful car! I'd be tempted as well, but I don't think I could do it. Congrats!

Well guys, thanks for the compliments. I gotta say that it was not an easy decision. However (flame suit on), that vette would pretty handily beat my MR even with the XEDE. I know some guys are haters of anything which isn't an EVO, but believe me, that 400 hp V8 is awesome and the car handles like a dream. Also, somebody installed a very nice Alpine entertainment thingy with navigation and all. You can use any kind of gasoline in it and at 70 mph the engine is turning around 1400 rpm in 6th.

The coupe is a basic Vette, but it beats the hell out of the EVO in standard features. I has cruise control, keyless ingnition, security system, etc. Also, the roof can come off and I have an open car. I know this is controversial, but the EVO is no match for the Vette except it can carry more passengers. All I can say is don't test drive a coupe like mine and don't even think of test driving a Z06. I've owned 2 EVOs so far but I think this car is better at least for me. Of course, I will probably miss my MR from time to time.

Well, like I said, I got it for my EVO plus $20k out the door. I did buy a wheel/tire insurance for a little under $600. I think it lasts 5 years and the way I curb wheels...

It's very hard to compare a $50,000 Vette to a $34,000 Evo. Obviously the Vette is a great performance car for the money. If you felt that the extra $20,000 you had to pay was worth it, then great! It's a great car. Glad you're happy with your purchase!

I saw the Z06s there, but I did not even think about them. I got this car for around $40K.... The new Z06s were in the $60k and $70k range....

You are right. These 2 cars are too different for a direct comparison. The EVO is a brilliant piece of work, but the Vette is quite a car too. The thing I like a lot about the Vette is that it's a little more appropriate for my age, it is after all an old guy's car . I was shocked at how powerful and great handling it was. It's also pretty easy on the eyes.... For me it's a great car because it combines the rigidity of the coupe with the open roof of the convertible. The RWD and the traction control work very nicely together. On top of that, it supposedly gets better gas mileage than the EVO under normal (whatever that is) driving conditions. We'll see i guess. I might stay in these forums for a while longer because I've really enjoyed being part of the EVO community. By and large the EVO guys and women are a swell bunch
