Well obviously, it isn't normal to have a car break that often, especially with cracked pistons?

the 04 sti i have don't have that kind of problem, but with the oil catch can set up there is still a lot of oil getting into the intercooler.

why the heck did he do any mods after the problem he had? I would have wait at least 5k miles before I would even think about doing anything after a severe engine problem. Are they going to repair it under warranty now?

I've seen 7 STIs need new engines including one with less than 5k on it. they fixed their trans but something happened to the engines.

I"m sorry, but in no way is a subaru engine more durable than a 4G63. Too many EJ25's have blown up! Plus, Subbie 5 speeds in the rex's were garbage.

MY cousin have an '07 STI. It is a nice car, but I prefer the Evo. The Sti will be chasing the Evo tail all day. It handling is not as good either, have very small front sway bar and no rear at all. Evos are also alot more mod friendly than the Sti.

Did he take it through the break-in process? You say he got an '07 STI for competition with your Evo and two months later the engine crapped out? Sounds like it wasn't broken in properly.
