Uhm, good question. BMW mods are in a total budget category as an Evo. A full Turbo back exhaust for an Evo you can get for a little over $500 from Logic performance while companies like SuperSprint from Italy has a full turboback with metalic cats that cost $8000 you know what I mean?Originally Posted by 596736
What are your plans mod wise?
Another aspect is the room to work on these cars and the availability of parts. There aren't many mods you can do to this car so far, the tuners are slow making parts for these cars.
Back to your question, I purchased a Vishnu Procede Piggy back about 3 months ago(2 months before I even got my car) but In haven't put it on yet. The car feels very fast stock but I might put this piggy back soon.
Later on maybe a cat back and a air filter but that is about it. I might put a couple of 275 street DRs in a few month or whenever i wear out the stock 255's.
As far is cosmethics, I would like to put a front lip but they are expensive. Suspension wise a set of H&R spring but again, this car in my opinion looks fantastic from the factory, it sits low and it handles and runs well so I am not in a rush to mod it.
Thanks for asking anyway.

Dino,
The next inmediate car will be anothjer BMW 135i or the Evo X so I 'll be back!!
As far is the Project GSX, it is alive. I purchased a brand new custom built turbokit model FP3052 from Forced Performance
Turbospecs:
Dual Ball bearing
4" Inlet with antisurging openings
antirust housing(no need to port or polsih)
44mm Tial waste gate
GT30 series cartridge
52lbs/min
custom built 02 hosuing to match any OEM type downpipe
This is the best pump gas turbo for the Eclipse as simple as that. The FP3065 puts more power but also kills the spool up. This is the most friend 91oct turbo with the best possible spool up.
Anyway, the car has been sitting in the garage for 2 and a half weeks now. Outside temp are 115 degrees and inside the garage is about 140-150 degrees, it is like a freaking sauna. I just can't work under such conditions.
I was tempted to pay someone to install the full turbokit but this will destroy my enormous proud of working on cars. This is a project in which I am very involved and I want to demonstrate myself what my limits are.
Recently I replaced all the turbo gaskets and I accidentally dropped a nut that blocked the exhaust turbine. I drove the car around the block and the car wouldn't boost. No kidding, I fully removed, reopen it, close it and installed the turbo in just under 2 hours. I made a huge mess of oil and coolant in the process but it boosted my confidence a whole lot.
Since I got the BMW I have been exceptionally enthusiastic about driving it every day and the Eclipse has been now a secondary role. The update is that I would have to get some custome piping done with the new turbo.

I agree after the Procede and maybe an exhaust tuner companies have kind of hit a wall, but from what I read these simple mods are yielding great results.Originally Posted by fromWRXtoEVO

A co-worker of mine bought a 335i a few weeks ago. It is indeed a nice car. The lines flow around the car very well. I had to double take when I looked at its massive brakes. I though the EVO brakes were big, but those looked even bigger. I love the torque curve on that car. Definitely a sweet ride...but it is all down to personal preference, right?
My drawback with such a fine car, is that it costs upwards of $50k. That is a lot of money for a car. If you could put that money in an EVO - shesh. Thus, if you have $50k to blow, and want style and Autobahn performance, this is a great example. The EVO is a totally different class of vehicle in my opinion.
BTW Carlos, how's the 335i in the twisties? I'm sure it is good - maybe not EVO good, but good non-the-less.
Congrats man.

You were not dreaming, what you saw was a massive 13.7" rotors and 13.4" in the back, yeah, that is big!!. On braking the BMW is absolutely neck to neck with the Evo.Originally Posted by 56Hotrod

As far is handling, well, I really don't want to be controversial, this is a Mitsubishi forum but we are under "other cars" subforum so I will open up. The BMW does the Nurburgring lap only four seconds behind a Evo 8.
If the laps were a minute then I would say it is a big difference but Nurburgring is a 8 and a half minute laps(give or take) so 4 seconds behing a Evo 8 times is not bad considering that this car does not even have a raer LSD and it runs on run flats while the Evo has the soft compound Yokos, AWD etc.
So far and comparing the 3 circuit test I have seen so far the BMW won 2 and the Evo won once. On Hokecheim the BMW was faster and on the lighting fast of america VIR again the BMW was faster by 2 seconds.
The chasi on the coupe is 25% stiffer than on the sedan. The weight distribuition is a 50/50 and the car has EBD and dynamic stability control plus adaptive steering (it stiffen with speed) . The car sits low to the ground and with the sport package and wide tires it handles very good in my opinion.
This is for you:

Good video. BTW, I'm not trying to get you to put on an angry suit
I have not studied up on the handling aspect of the 335i, but it is pretty impressive. How much does the car weigh?
But even Edmunds made me frown with a 0.88 skidpad result. Where the EVO is beyond the 0.90, and slalom is 71.x to I'm not sure for the bimmer.

Don't misunderstand, I feel the 335i is a fantastic car. I still think it is in a different class than the EVO - with all that luxury and such.

^^^ Yes, and that has an explanation. The Evo handles better in exchange for a stiffer and rougher ride but it has a edgier handling. The BMW feels more comfortable . This is all about choices.
While a .88g might not being as hardcore as you might want it definately gives you a good balance between comfort and sport.
The Cadillacs are very pimp cars, they basically float on the road, you can run over a brick and you wouldn't even noticed on the other hand try to go on the twisties, it would do nothing but act like a Venecian boat canal.

Carlos, are u talking about the good ol' Cadillac Fleetwood/Eldorado from the 60's/70s or the new breed of Cadillac V-Series?
FYI, the CTS' chassis/suspension has been developed in Nurburgring. This thing handles as good as a BMW 5-series and the CTS-V is a terrific handling car, even at the track.
Caddies aren't what they used to be.

Good runss.
My question is, is anyone datalogging their 335i's? A lot of guys are slapping on XEDE's, ProCEDE's, etc. and trusting the tune implicitly. I wondering if there will be drama (like there was here) when people actually started actually seeing how their cars were running (knock counts, timing advance, etc.).
