Z06 vs 911 Turbo
#16
911 is Rear-engine, so it has better traction than front-engine Corvette. So 911 takes off better. And if it takes off better, even though Corvette may be lighte rand has a bit more horses, it cannot keep up. Simple as that.
BTW, those two guys are race car drivers. So they may not be the best drivers in the world, but I'm pretty sure they can launch better than every one of us here.

They are professionals, but I don't believe being a professional will allow you to jump in a RWD manual trans car and drive it well without practice. For example, Ranger runs ~11.2 stock and as far as I know, he isn't a pro - he just has a feel for the car.

Guys go to Corvetteforms and check the many threads from guys that own both cars and they always say the same thing....the Z06 is faster period.....straight line, Road course, top end.
The GT3 is a better comparison and with r compound tires on the Z06 it would further distance itself from the GT3 also.
The drivers that did that test did not know how to launch a RWD car and if you knew the car as well as all of us Z06 owners then you'd also hear that the guy driving the Z06 was short shifting the car! Probably only bringing it to 6k RPMS. We were laughing at this video over on the Vette forms.
I drove both before I made my choice and beleive me the Z is faster if thats the big debate...there are things I like better about the 997TT. I like the gearbox a little better, like some features in the interior and I like the shorter hood...the Z's a little long at first but once you get used to it, no problem......what is funny is getting out of the Evo and then jumping in the Z. The first couple of minutes in the Z the hood seems like its a mile long ....that fades away very quickly though. The Z is so easy to drive.

The Chevy small block in the Corvette has been improving since the 1950's. Talk about Evolution...geesh. Lots of respect for GM for focusing and improving all these years.
