traded the EVO for a Saleen
Not really because first of all a Saleen is a limited number car hence the big 432 on my front bumper. Second, a Saleen has a bad *** modified suspension with Saleen struts/shocks, Saleen springs, and Saleen front and rear swaybars with urethane bushings. Third is the interior, the Saleen has wicked hand stiched leather seat covers front and back along with a 200mph speedo, short throw shifter and a few other Saleen specific items. All in all the Saleen set me back 53 grand but this is not a regular GT Mustang. I don't know how to explain it but the Saleen has a supercar status about it. Everybody stares at my car like it's an exotic coming down the street, it's awesome. I guess you would have to see a Saleen up close to see why they cost so much, it's hard to explain. The S281 SC(supercharged) cost about an extra 10 grand but came stock with 435horse and 425ft/lbs of torque, I could'nt afford the monthly payments on that one so I got the regular S281 instead. I can always add a supercharger down the line when I can afford the kit.
Thats to much for any type of mustang, I would of bought a used 911 tt for that kind of price range, and do a few mods to it and tune and it would kill a saleen. I know it's not a v8 but still porsche and 2 turbos, baaallin.

I get the status thing you are talking about...and I know my Mustangs very well...I am an americam muscle enthusiast myself...BUT
...when people buy these they do not normally modify them...its more a collectors car...hence the number thing and the price...by modifying it...TO ME....you are hurting the collector status allot...you paid almost double for that kind of thing remember.I LOVE Saleens...very attractive cars...but price wise...you are talking C6 vette...which is a superior performer...and sleekier...to me...unless I am a die hard Mustang fan and all my family own mustangs or collect them, the saleen is very challenged by the vett. I say that because I was in your position before, and the vette was a natural winner. The vette also has more of the supercar look also. but its all in the eyes of the beholder.
Great car though....looks killer no denying it..good luck

Yeah, a 911 twin turbo is cool but the repair cost and parts are not. For the price of those "few mods" I could stroke my 4.6 to a 5.0, get a set of ported heads and cams and run 20psi boost which would put my Mustang at about 720 horse to the rear wheels. It's all whatever, I was brought up on old school 69' Mach 1 Mustangs and 69' Z28's. I mean, what makes a limited edition, hand modified Mustang worth any less than a 911. I'm a sucker for the long hood, short decklid ponycar theme which is why I fell in love with the new Mustang. It screams American style at it's best IMHO. I know 53 grand is alot of dough but American muscle is what I enjoy. BTW, if I take out the 4.6 stroke it to a 5.0 and throw ProChargers top of the line kit that's able to run 20something psi of boost, that Porsche will have it's hands full. I'm not going to do that because the Saleen is sort of a limited edition collector car. The most I'm willing to do is run a supercharger at no more than 8psi, it's been proven safe and does no harm to the engine. I will be totally happy with 420 horse to the rear wheels with about 410 ft/lbs of torque - that should be enough to hold my own against a stock or mildly modified twin turbo Porsche. If it does beat me, it will not be by much.

The Vette is not practical for me, I can only afford one car and a two seat sports car is out of the question. I'm sick of waiting for Chevy to come back out with the Camaro and to tell you the truth they pissed me off by dropping the F body in the first place just to turn the plant into a truck production facility. I know the F body sales were lacking but GM did'nt even give the Camaro/Firebird a chance, they pulled the plug without even thinking just to build more trucks. The only choice for me was the Mustang and I dig the way a Saleen looks. It reminds me of something Chip Foose would build, kinda like a designer car - I don't know, I just like it. Also, the Vette was never a "musclecar" IMO. The Vette is more like an exotic and that's just not me either. The only other car out now that I drool over is the SRT8 Charger with the 425hp Hemi. I could'nt afford the gas that thing sucks down. It gets like 7mpg city and 14mpg hwy. I absolutly dig my Mustang, it's a classic looking American pony car design, and the Mustang is an American automotive icon that's been through thick and thin and never once went out of production.

I hear you man about discontinuing the F-body cars...looking for a clean auto one now for a DD and through a S/C on it....I will just leave it as is...they are very reliable supercharged...and I am tired of shifting in traffic sometimes.
a Mustang will be there down the road for me also I am sure...I always loved how much variety the aftermarket has for mustangs...you can almost make your own
Have fun ....keep the nice rides comming

Nice car Smith! I bet you love that torque,,,, alot differetnnt from the evo.
I love the style of the Stang,,, esp. with no wing, your lip is fine.
The only other thing I would like to see is different mirrors and less over hang on the front bumper.
Have fun!
