traded the EVO for a Saleen
My EVO was way modified and put down 370awhp and 350ft/lbs of torque. It had Cosworth cams with Crower springs, full turboback, dyno tune by Jestr, etc, etc. With the Saleen being stock - my old EVO would absolutly smoke it. That will not be the case when the ProCharger arrives. I'm just a v-8 kind of guy and I love every aspect of them. The EVO was cool and very fast but like I said, just was not my cup of tea. It was a fun ride and I don't regret for a second tinkering with one of the baddest Japanese cars out there next to a Skyline or turbo Supra. I will always have respect for the monster import legends.
Congrats on the new ride!!!!!! There is nothing better than the sound of a camed out American muscle car. I say go crazy and drop in a gt500 long block and add a twin turbo kit and make 1200 hp on pump gas.

1). I blindly traded my beloved 04' STi for an 06' EVO 9 because I thought it was the "better" car. I let myself get taken advatage of by the dealership because I thought the EVO was the car to have. I would later highly regret the decision I made because I never test drove the EVO before buying it. On the way home I was sick over trading my STi because the EVO felt weak in comparision.
2). I bought the car in Nov 05' and put 61,900 miles on it in not even 2 years. After modding the car to 370awhp, I got sick of it and wanted another v-8 American car.
3). While looking at cars, various dealers laughed at me for having a EVO bought in Nov 05' with 61,900 miles and a payoff of $35,842. The last dealer I went to agreed to pay off the entire $35,842 if I got into a Saleen with nothing carried over from the EVO. When I went to the dealer I orginaly was looking for just a Mustang GT. The general manager explained it like this: "Your EVO is worth 18,000, I'll give you 20. That would leave 15,842 tacked onto the price of a new Gt Mustang - there is not a bank in this world that will finance you for that much over the price of a car. I'll tell ya what. I just drove your EVO and it's freakin fast. I am willing to let the car sit on my lot if you agree to a new Saleen. I will pay off the 35,842. You see, I can get you financed for a more expensive car alot easier than trying to tack on your inequity to a cheaper car." I took this guy up on his offer because I screwed up with the EVO by driving it cross country 3 times and was totaly upside down. I would have had to let the EVO sit for 3 years in order for the miles to catch up with the age of the car. Since this GM was willing to pay off the EVO at 35,842 - it was a no brainer. I got to start over free and clear of all the inequity I had in the EVO. I just can't go on any cross country trips with the Saleen. The dealer was reluctant to drop the $4,999 markup since they did pay off 35,842 for my EVO. I wound up paying 53,000 for a 47,000 dollar Saleen. Not a bad deal as far as I'm concerned. I got out of a horible mistake I made and a super high mileage car that I owed a crap load of money on. I'm only paying 5 grand over sticker for a mean Mustang while getting rid of something that I had massive inequity in so I really don't see how I made a bad financial decision. Don't know why the dealer paid off my EVO but they did and I'm not complaining in the least bit. Everyone makes mistakes in life and mine was letting peer pressure and other peoples opinions get me out of my 04' STi, which I was totally happy with, and into the EVO. If I would have just stuck with my Subie, it would have been paid off Sep of next year and I could have traded it for the Mustang I really wanted - the Shelby GT500.

Good post don't let any of these clowns here tell you any different. I think you got out on top IMO. Also don't even bother posting to some of these people here they aren't worth the time of day. I also came from V8 cars and I really miss them. I also purchased an Sti before the Evo, and I let peer pressure get to me on how much better the Evo was. I miss my Sti, and the community they were more tight knit people. Much better people than the majority of Evo owners on here. I am still in decision on keeping my Evo, those 335i's are really tempting as well as the Terminator. I am sure that in a couple of years I will too be back in a V8, I just have to pay a certain amount of money, so I don't get anymore negative equity (like I got for trading in my Sti for an Evo) if I decide to do a trade in.
Man, why don't you read the WHOLE thread. You may find out why I had to go with the Saleen and how I did in fact get a good deal. I'll break it down for you real quick in easy to read steps:

Mine is a 2004 almost paid in full next December. I have 42,309 miles on it and the guys at the chevy dealer wanted to give me $16,950 for it last month I said "HELL NO" I'll keep my car and wait till summer 2008 to get my new Z06.
The Saleen looks awesome and I believe you had a great deal considering the mileage on the Evo!
Enjoy it!

I sold my Evo last year to buy a GT500 and have yet to seal the deal with any of the stealerships. At least the ADm is getting down to about 5K over so I am hoping by spring MSRP baby. Love the torch red best color of them all. Even though that Grabber PJ looks nice.

The Saleen is very nice. Those that question you have no heritage, and money says they have never rowed any gears on a V8 Mustang.
All this talk about do this to the Evo do that.....The guy got what he wanted end of story.
FWIW My kids think that Red car is more awesome then my Evo....I would not go that far myself. Personally I would of bought a Vette or 03-04 Cobra. I can not leave anything stock. So a collector piece is not something I would buy.
So on the end you got a bad *** Mustang that I bet you smile every minute your driving it!
