I'd put the Elan against the ITR anyday.

I spent the day looking at SI 4-doors. They are nice but my honda fit has more of a quality interior by far. It was suprising to see coarse edges on plastic molded parts, cheap looking dash(besides the cool gauges) and sloppy handling compared to the fit.

I definitly thought the transmission, engine response, and ammenities were nice though. I would take one over a speed3.

i can't believe there is even talk of comparing a Honda Si to a Evo. I do not even own a Evo(although i have driven a Evo9MR)My tech at Mazda drives a Evo8, and there is NO comparison in anything except possibly some finishes on the interior and possibly re-sale, they do keep there value. I have owned a1989,2003,2006 Si because it was affordable and my business is next to a Honda dealer. But when i started driving Evos, STIs and M3, i finally felt the power i was missing. I then stopped into a Mazda dealer(never had one) and test drove the Speed3 and traded the Honda in 2 weeks later, The Mazda has 280lbt tq at 2000 rpms and 265 hp stock. The Honda had 130 hp from 1 to 6000 rps and 200hp from 6ooo to 8000rps vtec and wow wow 139 lbs tg, come on guys. I am not bashing the Si, i did own 3 but it get real real boring having to take the car up to vtec every time you want to have some tq and then after awhile the 139lbs in vtec starts to make noise and roar without the pull. Its a great reving little engine without tq compared to the Speed.. Also one point which i really disliked was the digital speedo. Some folks like it but after a bit of it always moving in your face it was horrible, was like a video game. I like analog better anyway. The si is a nice fun little car, but please its no Evo or even no where near the Speed.

If I were in the market for a SI - I'd get the MS3 ALL DAY. Most of the reviews I've seen have ragged on the SI's performance - weak brakes, no low end power, poor suspension/steering feel etc.

Plus, I believe the Civic has a horrible interior imo.
