Honda Civic 4 dr SI Test Drive

I drove a brand new 4 dr Honda Civic SI today. I have driven Honda's all of my life and am retiring my 1998 Acura Integra GSR. I need something with some speed and 4 doors. The SI is quick, smooth, comfortable, practical, handles fairly well but is slow. The one I drove had navigation and thats a really nice feature.

The Evo is in a totally different league but IMO is a less practical daily driver. The civic is a nice car and has come a long way through the years. But its still damn slow.

the navi is a really convenient feature and the ride quality is smoother than the evo, but the si is not engaging and doesnt feel to quick imo

id much rather have my evo for a dd than the si

I think the ride of the SI is a bit more forgiving for every day driving. Gas mileage is better. Cost of owning and operating is cheaper. Navigation is a nice feature.

I'm glad to hear you guys like the Evo as a daily driver. The Evo is what I'm leaning towards.

I dont know what your talking about the Si having "fair" handling... Im in no way a honda guy at all. Probably the only Honda i would own is a Civic for a DD, but we had a new Si head up to the north GA mtns with us a few months back and it owned all... It was passing numerous modded Evo's and STi's with no problems and it was stock. Hands down the best handling FWD car ive ever seen in action. If i had the money to keep the Evo and get a nice DD id defiently get a Si and ive never owned a FWD car.

Bad drivers and bad setups but I will agree the civic si has sharp handlings for a fwd car.

i have a 07 Si sedan and i really like it. Great daily driver, it has ample power i dont think its slow compared to other cars in its class. Its a real nice all around fun car to drive :-) definitly worth the money, better daily driver then my IX.

When u race an EVO in your SI. Let us know who wins. HA!

With almost 200hp, 6spd and LSD the SI is a fun car to drive.
It is just underpowered or too heavy for my liking.
It is still a good tuner car. Kpro +cams + boltons = real fun.

Digital display is my favorite part about the new Civics... Also, Honda/Acura have done a great job making super handling fwd cars for awhile... I almost bought a TL Type-S because of that. I loved the Evo as my DD for 3 years... But it got old and I got tired of it. I needed something more comfortable with a lot less "noises."

I drove my friends SI coupe a few months back. It's nice.... but so freakin slow; of course, I've been driving boosted cars the last 6 years

My opinion, try out the Mazdaspeed 3. Another one of my friends has one and I think it pulls better than an Evo 8 stock for stock from ~2k-5k rpms (so daily driving range), rides a bit softer but still handles very well, nicer interior, etc. Also comes stock with RE050A tires as opposed to the lesser tires on the SI. Pretty much, the SI felt TOO soft to me. I think the MS3 falls in between very nicely.

Ya good point. My friend just bought a speed 3 and loves it! I just have never been into Mazdas.
