My buddy's dad has one. It is a rare factory turbo car. I think they only made a few with the automatic and turbo in his year. I think it is an '81. I was shocked to see the sticker price on that car in 1981 was $28,500!!! That would be some serious cash today!

I was also shocked to find out those cars are not actually stainless steel construction. They are fiberglass cars with very thin SS sheetmetal panels draped over them and then there are tabs that simply are bent under to attach them to the fiberglass body panels. I was disappointed to find that out. Anybody else ever notice this???

 

I wonder where he gets his plutonium from? Pump or makes his own?

 

We actually have the shop that "remanufactures" these right down the street. Back to new condition. There are always a few around town.

 

DeLorean is going to start re manufacturing them soon, it's making a comeback.
