Friends LS2 BLOWN

Well me and some friends were goin out of town , were on the highway im behind my friend (the guy with the LS2) were both doin like 4th gear pulls then all of a sudden white smoke. I thought some 1 rolled there car or sumtin cause all I could see was SMOKE!. So neway he pulls over I pull up behind him and its just gushing oil from under the car. Its a 06 GTO 6.0 LS2 doesnt even have 20k on it and now its blown.... From a 4th gear pull didnt even redline it....
So Im like wow wdf not even 20k and blown from a 4th gear pull. The bad part is his parents baught the car for him and he hasnt even had it for 2weeks imagine how he feels.

2 weeks? Has your friend heard of a break-in period?

Umm...I think 20,000 miles is a sufficient break in period.

Unless it is a modded car, I would have to say that is quite out of the ordinary for a motor of that capability. I've owned two Trans Am WS6's and I ragged the hell out of them without any problem for like 80, 000 miles on each of them.

Was the car modded or anything, any tunning done to it? Where was it bought from/who was the previous owner?

the LSx series motors are rock solid reliable.

your friend most likely bought the car from someone who's sent it to hell and back. my guess is it was supercharged with a bad tune (maybe too lean of afr) and the seller just took the SC off and sold it to your friend's parents.

there's also the possibility that the motor just threw a rod and blew due to low oil level or w/e....but for LSx series motors these kinda things is very rare. these motors can definitely hold their own in the reliability department.

put it back to stock and go to the dealer...

my friend had springs on his gto and his front 2 shocks blew, dealer replaced it and gave him an alignment under warranty.

gm definetly has the best warranty ever. i rarely hear of friends getting denied even when its completely their faults

Sure it sucks that he had problems, but he's more likely to have it covered by the factory than if something went wrong with your Evo. service

Possibly, BUT u can never tell for sure it stayed stock before you got it unless u personally knew the 1st owner. Picture this: a kid can put a 35R, cams, exhaust, etc. on an Evo and make 500+whp, beat the **** out of it, track it , drag it, completely return it to stock, and re-sell it without the next buyer having a clue.

You got that right! I've heard of them voiding factory warranties on a 4th gear synchro because of an exhaust, c'mooon

Too many variables to know what actually caused it to go.
