Top gear: comment on new STI vs X

since the comparison is set to run for the next five years or so, we'll get it out the way now: the Evo's a bit better-looking, isn't it?

looks like a Saab 5 door...

"Hopefully the STI should drive better than it looks."

it looks decent in silver. imo, with a new nose it would be OK. not as cool looking as the GTI/R32/A3, but the official pics are better then the testing/pre-release pictures.

I hadn't like the look of the new STI at all until I saw it in silver. It's the only color I've seen so far that looked decent, and I don't generally like silver cars.

I like the added utility of the hatch, but the X just looks a lot better to me. I can't wait until head-to-head comparisons start rolling in. Just a few more months...

Looks nice and beefy. Reminds me of a bmw M coupe, except a 4-door version.

It's a look that's growing on me...

but again, it's something that I had to warm up to tollerate, the X design I loved from the jump. The saving grace of the STi will be it's performance because looks wise it's not f**kin with the Evo X at all.

If they was so dead set on a wagon I can understand, but why not continue making a sedan STi?

according to the posters at iwSTI.com the STI sedan is only a year away. I think that's good news for all car nuts.

Subaru is all about practicality and performance first. They were never meant to be stunnaz lol Different ways of thinking

I've said this before and I'll say it again. At least Subaru has their priorities right. They are not trying to appeal to a new market of *******. They are building a high performance road going rally inspired sports car. Quite obviously they have not cared what it looked like since it's inception.

Also, I like it alot (The STI), especially since the new Evo is slower than my IX and doesnt have a 4G63. Also Subaru is still trying to be competitive in WRC and I think the hatch is going to enable them to seek a championship. I like a car company that's involved in motorsports. The entire Mitsubishi line is "Rally Inspired" now, however they dont compete in WRC anymore. Who are they really kidding? You guessed it.. the ******* that they are trying to sell the X to.

Oh.. Also wanted to say "I love my IX and I hope it lasts for ever!"
