Why can't Japanese/German companies make their cars RWD? GTI, Civic Si, MS3, Sentra, Mini, etc?

The point of these FWD cars is to give good performance at a price most people can afford. Not everyone can afford or wants to spend $33k+ on a EVO/STI etc.

The car won't have those ugly rims that are in the articles posted - those are optional wheels on the previous model.

Here is the new model (I believe those are the people that did some kind of software tuning for it):

(on the right of course):

Not bad IMO. I'd definitely take one over a Civic Si. 260hp/260lb-ft, lots of tuning potential, Brembos, upgraded suspension/trans...

if they are using the same 2.0 Liter Ecotec engine, that's great. That engine has been proven to be pretty bulletproof as far as the bottom end goes and there is quite a large aftermarket for it. Go Chevy!

The times for the car are a little dissapointing to me though. Chevy estimates 0-60 in 5.7 and a 1/4 mile of 14.1. The SC version had a 0-60 anywhere from 5.9 to 6.1 and 1/4 mile from 14.1 to 14.4. I just thought that it would be an easy 13.8ish 1/4 mile fro the TC version, no?
