I had a 929rr as my first.
Definitely not the most wise decision I have made. But...I had it for a year, rode about 4k miles and realized it just wasn't for me.
Amazing rush of power, only thing close I have ever experienced was behind the wheel of a viper.

But...after a few close calls....I knew it wasn't for me.

I dont regret the experience...I'm glad I tried it.

You only live once...however...I do HIGHLY recommend a 600cc bike or smaller as a starter, along with a motorcycle safety course if you have never ridden before.

Well....worth the investment.

I agree with Boeturbolancer. The SV650 makes a perfect first bike. IMO you will probably outgrow a 500cc bike quickly. With the SV650, you have a plenty of power with a light bike that will be gentler on insurance premiums over a full fairing bikes. After using for commuting, if you would like to give it track time, the SV650 is a great starter on the track as well. Me, I ride a 1200cc Buell, and were they offer a 500cc Blast, I would not recommend. Just my .02.
