And I'm sure a C14 would roast an Evo XXVII since they'll be out around the same time... But you are totally right... If a car from the early 21st century ran stock for stock against a car from the mid-late 21st century it would probably lose... Even a Buick LeSabre from mid-late 21st century could probably beat at least an Evo VIII, so your example is stupid... Just think... When cars were first made, what 15-20 hp was a crap load... and 60 mph was hella fast... now 1500 hp is a crap load and 250+ is hella fast... And cars were first made what like 80 years ago? Oh but don't worry cars will never come standard with keyless entry

Unless, of course, Mitsu goes out of business because of poor customer support and warranty backing... I know they lost me permanently as a customer, no matter how awesome the Evo XXVII is I'd only ever buy a salvaged title to fix up into a pure track car.

I would consider buying an R32 Just for that exhaust note. Everyone has to admit they sound pretty darn nice.

I have driven the mazdaspeed6 around an autocross at the last zoom zoom live event in NJ. Once you in the car you can definately tell its a more grown up car. Not only is the interior plush and nice looking but it has so much more options for the man who doesn't need to drive a race car everyday. Its shifting , steering inputs and throttle adjusments were super smooth and not jerky and rough like the evo. It also handled very well for a car that size.

Dood ur reading way to far into that.
Im just saying right now a 15 year old evo is pretty damn close to the numbers of the current corvette. And the corvette had what, an extra 40 years building the same car.

But then again its apples and oranges. A evo is a 4-door-4 banger rally car, a corvette is a 2-door V8 rwd sports car.

Even with mistu's poor customer support they have a army of followers, because they built a car that drives like no other car. Can u say the same about the corvette? Maybe, but i know with the corvette's numb steering its not going to give u the same experience of being one with the car like a evo's high tech AWD system.

Uh the current corvette would absolutely destroy an evo. Obviously it's not perfect but neither is the evo.

Wow, if a thread doesn't end with flames it ends with Evo vs. Vette

After reading everything I almost forgot what the thread was about. I believe a wise man once said "to each man his own." So therefore people who buy speed6s and r32s just prefer them or have other reasons such as financial, loyalty etc. IMO I wouldn't want everyone to drive an evo anyways.

Current vette has 430hp and hits 60 in 4.3....but thats bench racing....on the track im sure the cars would be comparable unless the track really opened up..then the vette would take its place on its rightful throne. The EVO is a great car....but it isn't the sports car a vette is...heck..i think my Z is more of a sports car than my evo.

The purpose to build the evolution before 2000, to be in the WRC ,what this is mean: road legal race car to homologate the car for the WRC. 2001 the requirements changed ,and no need to be homologated any more for WRC . So for the manufacturer dont have to sell "race cars " for the street. Why the Evolution stayed that long very close to tha actuall race car? Because was a big hit looks like untill know./X/ The Evolution is not for those guys who looking for cup holders - leather seats- brush aluminium inserts - stereo- navigation etc.
I know its hard to understand here in US. But that is fact. I think only person can really appropriate the EVo who really know what is this car really is.... The rest of it....
this is my answere that so many comments about the evo is rice - grow up- need to be more civilized etc. Who ever made those comments those guys have no clue about the EVO. So probably they don't even drive one or just buyed them ,because they fast or cool.... So they need to grow up not the car.

R32 and MS6 is a different approach for preformance thats all. If you like that way, you should never even look into an EVO.
The Evolution have and that matter every rally breed car like , STI , Ford coshworts etc. they own feeling . And that is why people buying them . Try to be in the rally car as close as they can. Same when you go to the game, and your team t-shirt is on you. Comfortable, up to date , who cares right?
What do you think why the evo sell over here only 3 years? Because the Mitshu knows the majority of this country have no idea about this car, so they wouldn't appropriate it. And they thought the 8 will be "civilized " enough for most of them.
Boy they was wrong... I do think the US . don't need the real Evo, They need something like the X. Probably that is why the RS trimm will be not avaiable here anymore...

Like said before not every one wants a simple fast car. Some of us want to go to work and other places with our family in comfort and options in a car. We just like to have a bit more performance than the regular model. But there are some fast MS6 out there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53OozSCGhsg . But I'm choosing the EVO because it is simple car and a proven performer.

MS6 was supposed to beat the Legacy GT (IMHO it didn't). I test-drove an MS6. It's a nice car - but it's no beast - which is what I wanted and got.

Thats the problem, now that the Mazda Speed 3 has come out, it makes more sense to buy a speed 3 instead of a Speed 6. Also, the Speed 6 has not sold well at all and it depreciates like crazy (my dad almost bought one for 20,000 a year old). So if you could get one for around 20,000 it makes a little more sense, however, I would definitely go Evo over any of them!!
