Why Mazdaspeed6 or R32 when you could have EVOOO?
Why Mazdaspeed6 or R32 when you could have EVOOO?
The thing I wonder about is why on gods green earth would anyone shell out $30-35,000 for a Mazdaspeed6 (14.8 1/4 mile) or even worse a MKV R32!?!?! (0-60 in 6.4 SECONDS?!) What in the hell is possessing these people to buy a performance car and take SUCH a hit on the performance part for some cow seats and navi?
I was looking at the speed6 before I bought the Evo. The speed6 was alittle more affordable (used), and I liked the unique body it had.
Then I found an Evo in my range, the rest is history.

Some people not only want to go fast but have a modern car? I mean we are all blinded by evo's might, but if you look at it from an unscewed perspective it's a pretty outdated interior with a not so comfy ride. Design is definitely something that only fanboys like us like.

cause theyre nicer, more civil....
not everyone is looking for a race car..... the ms6 is garbage so i wont defend that.... nice interior but still ehh...
the r32's driving amazing, very nice interior, nice exterior.... just a great car imo, sure its not an evo but it is comparable

They are 3 different cars in terms of character. The R32 is a much nicer car with regards to the interior and is a better daily driver. The Evo X is much closer in character to the R32. The Mazdaspeed 6 is more of a family car and appeals to a person with a family that is looking for an affordable sports sedan (you can get one for much less than sticker). I obviously have an Evo, but not everyone is looking for the same thing in a car. My 2 cents.
Yea... The MS6's are selling new for like 25k. The dealerships try to get 32k for people who just show up, like the car, and buy it without haggling, but you can get them for 25k new. The Toyota dealership i worked at got one as a trade in w/ 3k on it and was asking 24k used. I told them what it went for new and they dropped it down to 22k and even offered to GIVE me the car as a straight up trade for the Evo. I drove the car liked the power and LOVED the interior, but if i was gonna buy a MS6 it'd have to have leather and this one didnt. Thats why i didnt trade

They want a warranty included in their purchase of something that's decently quick, attractive (to them), and don't directly call attention from cops and ******* drivers? There's 3 reasons (technically 4... or 5) right there... But there's plenty more.

Great post.
R32's are great cars and an entirely different class of car from the Evo. Its a great in between for those that don't quite want the bluntness of an econobox-race car but still want something to have fun in.

these are three totally different cars... performance isn't everything to everyone. the mazdaspeed6 is more inline with a legacy gt. the r32 appeals to guys that just love dubs. i personally would take very few cars over an evo, especially in the price range, which is why i bought one! but not everyone is looking for the same thing in a car. the evo is not very practical or appealling to many people (ie the harsh ride, which i personally LOVE) but to those that it appeals to its the SHHHH1T
im pretty sure there is nothing under 65/70k i'd touch over an evo o yea the mazdaspeed3 tho... wicked sick. that car packs some serious punch for the $$$ and is super practical.
same reason i almost ended up with an S4 or an M3. some people just want a nicer car with more comforts. i know for me it was all about speed, my parents tried to get me into a big sports sedan, but i chose the evo instead for its speed, handling and the community appeal (which was a huge factor). i love the evo and don't regret it at all as i just decided to keep it instead of upgrading to a nicer (interior) car. actually just got myself an orbital and avic-z2
