Yes, thanks for the refresher course on that....when was this ever an issue?
fantastic movie...everything denzel touches turns to gold...did anyone besides me think russell crowe's lawyer girlfriend was really hot?
Your point has merit, but in that movie everyone loved heroin, there was no "brand loyalty". In the car world, which is what we're talking about here, not computers or tv's or whatever other example was brought up, people like other flavors so even if a gtr performs as good as if not better, you don't think there will be people who will still pay a high price because of the name like porsche, aston marton, lotus, etc?
The ebay parts debate on this board is a classic example of a cheaper product coming in, claiming to perform the same (if not directly then vouched for by the people who bought it) and yet a lot of people still want to pay for the name of buschur, ams, etc.. Some people swear the parts perform as good as XYZ company, but they're cheaper so why bother? other people say no, ill stick with that works for me, and they pay more. Doesn't seem to have dropped exhaust prices, manifold prices, or any other price significantly from what I can see.
Another example is parts between manufacturers in general - say btw buschur and AMS. Both have proven 35r kits (lets leave HTA out for a second), and yet one costs less than the other. Granted, parts are slightly different such as manifolds, included accessories but for the most part, its the same kit. Yet, some people opt for the more expensive one even with both having tubulars - no significant price wars, prices remain relatively constant, no huge price drops. So should I expect a $200 buschur turbo kit to come around - in "real" dollars of course.
Right, it will inflate over time....so lets say the dollar value today equals 1 "real dollar" although we know it was a lot more valuable in the 70's and 80's, which is why when you read about record gas prices, they say that, compensating for inflation, the cost to us today is similiar to what it felt like in the 80's mess. So the manufacturer says it cost me $10K in today's dollars to build this car, I'm going to sell it for $20K. Just assume for a second that he builds this same car 10 years from now, nothing different so even though its the exact same thing, because of inflation, outside currencies beating the hell out of the dollar, whatever....its gonna cost him "more" relative to today's dollar value to produce the same car...so it might cost him $15K in the future time's dollars, making him in turn sell it for even more.
btw, does it bother anyone else that the canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar? what's the world coming to?
Terrrrriffic! Depreciation is common sense here, not to mention that in 5-6 years new technology will be present in most cars (unless we just stop wanting improvements in cars) and thus older cars without this stuff will be worth less in our eyes....except for supras....damn those cars!
Shame on me for not seeing sarcasm staring me in the face, but I guess i've just become numb to it because of the people who make silly statements and are NOT being sarcastic.
so to sum up, $1 now might actually equal $0.80 when the XI and XII come out...so even if it stays at $32K starting price, it'll take more of my paycheck to pay for it, assuming my salary has not been adjusted to keep up with inflation, but even then these rises are slow to catch up or even cancel out inflation period.
this was my whole point to your sarcastic first response but thanks to your firm grasp of principles OTHER than inflation, such as tv's, really old computers, and frank lucas, I can see that I'm preaching to the choir.

Thank you, you just saved me 30 minutes and some sore fingers. I love how people take a semester of economics or finance and suddenly become an economist or financial analyst. I'm continually amazed that the central banks of our states aren't staffed by college freshman...they've clearly solved all economic issues
Back on topic though does anyone else see a detuned and stripped down sub-GTR in the next few years. By slotting one near a $40k-$45k pricepoint they could keep Nissan enthusiasts in the brand that have outgrown the 350Z (or don't like) but can't yet afford a GTR. Porsche has had great success with the Cayman and Toyota has done this large scale with the Scion, Toyota, and Lexus brands. Audi appears to be trying the same trick with the "S" and "RS" lines.

I have always loved the GT-R's but what will be even better is seeing modded evo's roll up next to a wall street yuppie in one of these GT-R's with some hot chick he's trying to impress.....then slowing down a bit after he gets beat so you can take one last look at the hottie in his passengers seat
Ya know, you're totally allowed to use as many letters as you'd like in this forum. Abbreviating every single word isn't required.

Isn't there a ~520hp version coming to the US a year or so after its launch? Either way, contrary to what I initially thought; this car tears it up. I am pleasantly surprised by the initial performance numbers. I like the looks (and the sound of the RB26DETT) of the R34, but the R35 is a monster.
, You have been looking at all the wrong places for those 1000~1400 HP Supras.Congrats to Darin 8.63 @170mph.. vids inside
We had a track rental and Orlando speed world yesterday. Because of all the rain the night before and in the morning the track was not perfect but still good enough to hold a bunch of 8.6 passes for Darin. The 6 speed supra record is 8.62 so Darin is so close to taking it.
He ran:
8.72@169
8.71@169
8.67@169
8.69@168
8.65@169
8.64@157 (hit boost cut in 4th)
8.63@170
Which his consistancy is just absolutly amazing for a stock manual tranny in a turbo car. So big congrats to him and I know he will get that record in no time!!

I also got my new personal best 9.59 @149. Here are some of my vids too. That day i ran a 9.67, 9.63, 9.60 and a 9.59.
