The X is a more comfortable daily driver. Better for long road trips as well.

after only 900 miles in my X..I Have to strongly disagree. I don't find it any more comfortable compared to my VIII that I had. The X recaros are more aggressively shaped/bolstered which doesn't help. Also, while this is small, I preferred the door line on the older one so driving with an arm out the window on those nice days isnt very comfortable lol.

Not sure about long trips but definitely roomy in the back.

I can barely put my wallet in my back pocket with these Recaro seats in the X. I can forget about carrying my Glock all together.

Availability and pricing. Before I bought my X I really wanted an IX MR but they were costing more and with a higher mileage. It didn't really make sense to buy an older car when I could get the X locally and with a much improved interior, cruise control (that was a big factor for me), less miles, and newer.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Evo X was designed by some European designer named Omer Halilhodžić. Nothing against him, its just that I'm pretty sure all the previous Evos were designed by Japanese and the Evo X is not. In my opinion, the Evo X is just not really part of the Evo family, doesn't truly have the Japanese feel to it.

The squeaks and rattles remind you it's Japanese.

Seriously though, that's just ignorance speaking. I used to think the same when I had my VIII. Now that I own an X I feel stupid.

The X looks better, drives better, handles better, has more advanced was system, more advanced engine, better chassis everything about it is better apart from weight and that's only due to safety regulations. Have you seen what the result of crashes look like in a CT9A? It's terrifying, really!

I don't miss my VIII one but. I miss the sound of a straight exhaust, bumpin cams and BOV...but that will be changed soon with some purchases

Technically the facelifted VIII was penned by a French guy (Olivier Boulay), as that split grille that ended up being on all Mitsus at that time was his design. Not sure who did the IX though, since he left Mitsu in 2004.

I have a 2003 VIII purchased new that is my baby. I also have a 2015 Evo X GSR. Personally I love the raw driver feel of the older VIII. I fell more connected to the road with it. The X is my new daily driver and will remain stock for a long time. The VIII is basically a track toy at this point, with a drive on public roads from time to time.

Here is what I like about each car so far, I only have 3000 miles on the X. Also some little things I notice

2003 Evo VIII

More connected feeling to the car IMO
Feels lighter then the X, more agile
Trunk space is double the size of the X
Soft leather shift boot
Stock engine pulled well all the way through each gear, the X drops off after 6000 or so
Iron Block 4G63 better IMO No need to sleeve it
Wing entirely made from CF
400 whp, still gets better gas mileage then the X lol
Pedal placement for rev match downshifting while braking is better
I like the look of the VIII better, IMHO. I hated the X when I first saw it

2015 Evo X

ACD
S-AWC
AYC
Button to turn traction control off
Snow + Blizzack LM32's + Snow Mode - Traction Control = Giggles
Ebrake handle placement slightly better, good for inducing drift in the snow
Stereo Much Better with Sight and Sound package
Cruise control is nice to have for driving long distance
Interior looks nicer, more grown up, except the shift boot that looks and feels cheap
Keyless entry/startup is nice
Modern features like the bluetooth stereo is nice
Seat has more adjustment, but no Recaro's FML

They both have there Pros and Cons. I love my X for a DD, but my VIII I consider my first born child and is my favorite.

^ Great comparison there!

I'd summarize my experiences w/ VIII's as piloting a four wheel crutch rocket as oppose to X's feel of refined all capable cruiser suited for DD duties, perfectly done as stock too.

So, I do appreciate my 14 X MR with its multi-personalities of SST and the Recaros are not bad either...

Its bull**** that Mitsu had to ditch the Recaros for the last production year...
