if you are looking for a all season daily driving can't go wrong with a wrx. If you want to mod it, thats a different story. Its expensive to mod. You can get a Eclipse GSX and mod it. S13/14 are always fun. S2K are also great if you don't get any snow where you live.

WRX sound great until after getting your full exhaust done your motor blows because the stock ECU sucks. if you want something that is newer than 2001 idk what to say...but you should get a

kouki S14... and those are anywhere from 12k to 15k so easily falling into your price range

RWD, handle great, easy to work on, very trackable, cheap parts....stock LSD
Ummmm...I own a WRX and those things aren't exactly true. Yes the motor is more difficult to work on because of it's boxer design but it's not impossible, you just have to know the tricks. Plenty of people in the local subaru club can change an up-pipe in an hour or two and a full exhaust in maybe 45 min. The stock ECU is fine, it's the wastegate port and flow tables that present the problem. With a tune though that's not an issue and most people want a tune anyways to get the most out of their car.

Ummm are you talking about JDM S14 Silvias? Cause the USDM "Kouki" S14's 97-98 can be had, IF YOU CAN FIND ONE, anywhere from 5-10k MAX. I bought one 2 years ago, it had the rare leather interior too, for 8g's...beautiful cars with crazy potential, but are really rare. Also a very small amount of them come with LSD, you will be hard pressed to find one with a stock one, most likely it's out from a J30 infiniti or a jdm S14.

Get an old Mustang or Camaro if you want to mod it cheap. Loads of parts, which are cheap and some can make plain silly horsepower. Putting it down is a different story, but it can be really fun.... But if you want a DD, buy a civic and don't do anything silly to it, it'll be good on the gas if you are a student.

Yea I've also thought about an 03-04 rsx-s... I will be modding the car slowly but surely... I've been working on a turbo build on the OZ but I figure the money could be better invested in a car with fewer miles, manual transmission, and that has more potential... As far as gas mileage, if I can pull 20-25 mpg out of it I'll be satisfied, I don't drive that far... It snows here during the winter but it is usually pretty light. Oh, and a big NO on the miata... I'm 6'2" btw....

you can find a g35 coupe that fits your criteria if you look hard and if you plan on doing a turbo on it down the road, you can make good hp even on the stock block.
