Thinking of geting rid of the Evo
Thinking of geting rid of the Evo
Hey guys i could use ur help. I own a evo VIII no payments on it i have the pink slip. It has 84,000 miles on it. I live in San Diego right now but moveing soon to FL. I love the evo but i am takeing a pay cut with moveing to FL and i know how these evo are known for bad tranny and tcase. No problems yet but i am not sure down the road. I was thinking of geting rid of her and geting something more reliable and cheaper to maintain like a Civic SI. The evo is my dream car and still is. So do u guys think i should trade her in. It's just i need a good DD that is cheap to maintain and won't break down on me. So shold i keep the evo with all those miles on it or trade her in and get a brand new Civic SI with no miles and a full warranty or something else thanks for any input guys
I say trade it in. You are going to need to worry more about breakage w/those many miles. Hondas are reliable, not the best looking, but reliable. You'll also end up saving on gas & insurance, all the better if you're taking a pay cut. Less things to worry about if you trade.
Honda's are reliable as a dd and good gas mileage. With the increasing gas prices, it wouldn't be too bad. It would be nice if you could keep the evo and get the honda. It's a tough decision letting go..
Cool that is what i thought too with that many miles on her it's time to trade her in. Any other cars that i should look at besides hondas or toyota. My price is 26,000 and below.
It really is hard to let her go I was thinking of geting a used honda and keeping the evo but still not sure. This was the car i always wanted but did not know how much it cost to keep well maintianed. But even if i do get rid of her i plan on geting another one or a old skyline when i am more in a better position to have one. just right now not sure if it is a good idea too try and keep the evo and get a DD. With my pay cut and i am going to start going to collage when i get to FL its probaly not a good idea too keep her. And i am young 23 years old i am glad to be this young and had the evo so i still can get another one later in life i figuer.

People don't think these things thru enough. Your worried about gas, insurance, and cost of something breaking right? If you bought a car for 26,000 and they give you 15,000 for your evo you will end up with probably 13,000 in a loan. (Tax, title, etc.)
13grand with maybe 7% interest is going to be like $250 a month I bet. So you think your evo will cost more than $3,000 a year going forward on extra gas and something breaking. My two cents is it will be close enough to not let your evo go.
And if your going to say you have money to put down than build the tranny and tc now and your good to go
Good feed back i kind of thought about this. The SI i am looking at is 22,000 OTD. So if they give me 15,000 for the evo that leaves me with 7,000 and at 7% it would put me at around 145 a month on a 4 year loan. That is about 1,740 a year. Now would u keep the evo with that many miles if the tranny needed to be build and the tc. And that is right now the car still has 84,000 miles so who knows what else could go wrong. See i thought about this but what do u think? Is it going to be cheaper in the long run for me to build the transmission and the tc and keep up the maintainace on the evo or just get the SI at the price i stated at the top. That is my problem which one would be more cheaper and reliable as a DD a evo with 84,000 miles on it that i own or a New SI with 0 miles on it at 1,740 a year good input so far guys thanks
Also the tranny and tc do not need rebuilding yet but who knows they might go on the way to FL. I know that is a big if but it does have 84,000 miles on it any other input would be great guys
I would keep it, get a dialy driver like a honda civic for 5-8k with 40k on odo insurance is hella cheap, you're about 28k over on your evo. That will bring the milage down alot by gettin dd you can even unregister and pay a small amount for insurance I know theres a option. Trailer the car to the area where ever you are moving.
Yea that is an idea but is the DD going to last me with out a waranty on it. How about if something goes on it. This has to be one of the hardest choices to make for me i love this car puts a smile on face every time i drive it.
