2000 Cougar

A friend is interested in a 2000 Cougar that she knows of...does anyone know the specs on this car? Its a 2.5 liter v6 right? Any idea about the hp and what tranny comes standard? Thanks

I know a girl with a new Cougar, nice greensih blue color. Really nice car. My ES Lancer actually feels faster then it though. It's really not fast for a V6.

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately this girl knows diddly about cars in general so she has yet to ask the seller anything important like what kind of tranny and if its the 4 banger or the v6. It only has 15k miles tho, supposedly in good condition, and he's asking $6500. Sound like an OK deal to you?

Looking at kelly blue book ... if it has a clean body, clean interior and it really only has 15,000 miles - its a good deal for $6500, even if its the 4cyl. Check kbb.com or the link below and input your zip and the miles ..

The 4 cylinder version is a pile of garbage, IMO. It's slow, makes a lot of nasty sounds, and generally underperforms. The V6 version is nice, regardless of transmission, though the fuel economy is attrocious for a 2.5 V6. Overall it's a pretty good car, especially if you can snag one for $6500.

Here's my cougar (my other car) they are actually great cars, tons of mods available, and can be fast as hell. It's currently faster than my evo. http://estore.teamprototype.com/ibro.../jimmys_cougar

She can barely drive so there will be no modding- she just wants something thats sporty looking and not something every1 else in town has (used civis and VW's). She's currently driving a 10 yr old minivan with no power steering so ANYTHING is an improvement.

Mmm...I think Roush did up and supercharged a V6 Cougar waaaaaay far back and that thing hauled. Try and dig up some SCC archive material. Albeit they look like clones of 3G Eclipses, I don't think it's that terrible of a car in V6 trim but there are better used bargains out there.

FYI, most dealerships dont use KBB, they use N.A.P.A. ... when I traded in my 92 bronco for my lancer, i only got 2k for the truck, when kbb listed it as over 3500... just something to keep in mind!
