This car HAS to beat the GT-R. Toyota doesn't have a choice at the price point it's going to come in at. Otherwise they'll have a lot of egg on their face. But I just don't see how they're going to be able to do that with the LF-A. It's RWD, it's not light and it isn't going to make 600hp. While Toyota has made some "ok" looking cars, they've never been drop dead gorgeous and I'm sure in the end, they'll screw up the LF-A as well. Plus it'll garish a serious premium over the GT-R's MSRP.

 

I think the LF-A is going to have a serious shot of topping the GTR down the 1/4 mile strip. But in the 'ring, which everyone seems to care about these days, I am a bit more pessimistic that the LF-A can best the GTR V-spec. Not to take anything away from the LF-A, but I think that just says more about V-spec's abilities.

On the other hand, I think Toyota will be fine, even if the LF-A can't beat the GTR's ring time.

 

For those who dont know Toyota has entered it in the 24 hours at the ring. Not expecting to win but, to get extensive testing done. That tells me they are chasing the GT-R right now.
