GT-R versus Evo IX?
GT-R versus Evo IX?
Hi all
With the launch of the GT-R, I'm curious about how the Evo IX would stack up against it!
For example, I think that a stock standard IX does 8:11 around the 'Ring, versus the GT-R's 7:29. But how would a IX that had been tickled up a bit (say to 400whp) go against a stock GT-R around the Nurburgring (assuming that both drivers were similar in ability, etc.)?
And what about in a straight line? I think I read somewhere that the GT-R does a mighty impressive 11.8 quarter mile, stock standard. Not sure what a 400whp IX would do, but I'm guessing it would be around that time, maybe around 11.5.
Cheers
Mark.

I think EVOs are impresive cars and that's the reason why I bought mine. When you put GT-R and EVO IX stock side-by-side Evo is not that far behind at all. Yet it costs a lot less! However, if I had the money I'd buy GT-R but definitelly keep my Evo.
Ya I would never buy a GT-R unless I had money just laying around, but a tastefully modded evo with drivers of the same ability and a GT-R you would probably see a pretty good race.

Poorly...unless the Evo was modded quite seriously an the Evo driver was a stud.
The GT-R is great at making even poor drivers look like heros by using the various forms of electronic gadgetry & trickery.
Love my Evo but the GT-R is a different sort of animal.

With as much as the GTR costs(especially with markup), an Evo 9 with mods would destroy it, and pretty much every other car around a track.
Just think about it. $30k for an Evo plus $40k for a crap load of engine, suspension, aero mods, wheels, and other stuff. The Evo offers an amazing performance platform. Everything else just depends on how much money you want to throw at it.

The Evo is an amazing car, but that fact that it would need many mods to just stay with it isn't impressive. I could buy an EG hatch for $5000, dump $25k into in and be LOADS faster than a stock Evo in a straight line and around a track.
I don't like how performance cars are becoming idiot proff. I find traction and stability control ok in the everyday ordinary sedan that Susan Smith drives to the office everyday, because chances are, Susan smith doesn't know $hit about regaining control if she swerves a deer, or spins on a wet road. But, I'd hope that if you buy a performance car, you'd have some sort of driving skill and knowledge to not NEED all this fancy crap to control the car. It's good to a point just so driving the car isn't miserable and traction is nowhere to be found, but traction control and stability control are VERY interfearing on most of the new cars. It just takes the joy out of driving. Atleast in most performance cars you can turn it all off

Haha, so many said these words about the Evo. The gt-r is kind of a tank.

I agree, I would always turn my GTIs ESP off when I "performance" driving.

The Evo IX will lose if you just increase it's whp and torque to R35 GT-R levels. But if you also improve it's handling it will beat a stock GT-R. Anything can made to beat anything if you have enough money.
