Yeah, I edited the list to include only production car lap records, and this R26.R is definitely not a street legal production car.
Another example are cars like the Radical SR3 and Donkervoort D8, which are not street legal in the U.S. although they did get faster lap times than the ZR-1.
On another note, I still don't understand how GM can claim the CTS-V is the fastest sedan around the 'Ring when the Audi RS4 lapped a quicker 7:58 time back in 2005.

I'm surprised to see all the Mercedes up there. You get people putting down Mercedes and disregarding them as heavy highway slushbox cruisers but according to this list some of their cars can get around a track in a hurry.

As I stated before, I deleted duplicate times, and did not include race only track cars, or production cars that have been modified.
This is my personal preference and I readily expect others to disagree on what belongs on a production car list.
The line separating street legal and not street legal can be fuzzy at times.

I added it to the first post so you guys can see how it compares to the other cars.

True... but then again, look at the facts:
Audi put a Audi DTM race driver(Frank Stippler)
The RS4 was driven on Pirelli Corsas
Other sources like Sport Auto or Autobild(German magazines) put the RS4 in the 8 minute 9 sec range.
I am not denying nor I am on favor of one more than the other but the amount of data is still insuficient to make the wining claims.
To me this sounds like GM propaganda although I put my money on the Cadillac since its completely swipes the AUDI in aceleration and power numbers, I mean, no chance for the Audi.
There are other untold histories like the Audi has the speed governing to 155mph on standard production cars, that makes you think twice about if they retune the ECU.
Cadillac has been the other way around, they disclosed and they claim everything up front, including the top speed.
My personal opinion is that the AUDI RS4 is going to bend over 90 degrees down or more, This Cadillac is no joke(Recaros, Brembos, tons of torque and power)
