screwed with used car

ok so i don't want to get anyone in trouble but i bought a used s2000 from a certain someone that was on this board. the car had 50k miles when i bought it now it has 50,300 and the engine is shot. I bought the car back in June and pretty much its just been sitting in the garage except for when i took it around the block to just get it to stretch its legs (the cars still not regestered). Well what happened this time is i took it out for a little longer, i got it to warm up all the way and jumped on the highway. right when i gave it a little bit more gas to keep up with traffic my friend calls me and tells me there was a huge puff of white smoke, and then all of a sudden the engine is rattling like a tin can full of marbles. i pull over and take a look and the car had no oil.. it was bone dry. I pour in 5 qaurts of oil and get the car home. I look around my garage no leak, under the car no leaks bone dry... so to get to the point seeing as how this is a long messege, does anyone know wat i can do? do i have a case here or am i buying a new engine myself? i think i can go after the guy but in truth i have no idea.. someone help me out

Should have had a mechanic check the car and do a compression test/leakdown before buying the car man. Believing someone's word on a 10K+ transaction is leaving yourself open to be taken advantage of.

It was the previous owner's fault that it had no oil, but it was your fault that you didn't check. S2000s sip a little oil from time to time so I wouldn't be surprised if something bad happened if you were running it for a while with no oil. Good luck dude.

Damn! Seems like you did all of the wrong things and got the right consequences for your actions. Time to work towards that motor. Or maybe you can sell the whole car to me for dirt cheap and let me deal with your problems.

s2k's do tend to use a little oil. the idiot light is pretty useless in them too. by the time that comes on, its too late usually.

gives you an excuse to rebuild it though. what year is it?

Find a motor out of a crashed one, and boost it!

Have it looked at before you jump to conclusions about needing a new engine.

who's the a**hole who sold it to ya? You should look out for all of us and prevent us from getting screwed ( no offense to you).

Good luck though

If you're really upset you can sell it to me at a really reasonable price!
