My new snow tires
My new snow tires
Ok, so I was on my way down to the tire shop to break down and pay $1000+ for snow tires. On the way down, I spotted a bronco with a for sale sign in it. I called the number, talked to the lady, and found out she was asking $4k for the 95 Eddie Bauer bronco in extremely good condition with 139k miles on it. I figured what the hell, why not drive it. It runs like new. So I talk a little more with her, and say it's going to be out of my price range. She asks me what my price range is, and I say I'm trying to avoid paying $1000 for tires + tax + mount and balance. She says what's that total, around $1200? I said yeah. She says "I'll tell you what. This was my husband's, and he passed away a couple months ago. If you want it for $1200, you can have it. I just want it out of the driveway."
So my new snow tires came attached to a 95 bronco in great condition. Not a bad deal!
Sorry for the poor quality, I snapped a pic with my phone before I headed in the house:

now u also have a DD and dont have to worry about banging ur evo out into a guardrail in the snow...id rather wreck at 1200 beater than a 40k car...thats why i bought my truck. good buy.
Yeah, sorry about that, I guess the title is a little misleading. I was really having a hard time with the idea of exposing the X to the harsh conditions of our roads during winter. I did it with the TT, and it was great in the snow and all, but we get repeated 10+ inch snowfalls up here in the high country, so I would be doing lots of pushing snow. My hood and windshield took a beating too. I think the X will do just fine with a cover in the garage for the winter. I'll swap em back when it's time to auto-x in spring.
