Picked up a 2009 JCW Mini Cooper last Friday

I needed a daily driver as I was getting tired of driving the Evo to work on Monday after a track weekend with squealing, shot brake pads and chunks of rubber on the fender wells. I decided on the Mini and absolutely love it. The car is a hoot to drive and manages to get 30+ MPG to boot. The car has an impressive amount of torque from 1500 RPMs through redline and the brakes may very well be better than the ones on the Evo. The build quality is also fantastic for what it is.

Congrats on the new JCW. It is an awesome car. I have driven quite a few of them and every time they leave a pretty big smile on your face. Did you get the car at Prestige MINI in Mahwah?

The Mini S is an awesome daily driver, just like you said it gets great gas mileage and it is a lot of fun to drive. I have seen huge gains with a catless dp on that car, the oem cat sit 3-4" from the turbine of the turbo thus slowing it down. My second choice would have been the GTI with DSG.

Anyway, congrats!

Nice! I love driving the cooper S. The quality is great and the performance too. I have the supercharged one, wish I waited for the turbo version.

What year Mini S do you have. I drove two of them a pre 2005 and a 2005, one was manual and the other auto, boths cars from two members of this forum(ediwn and Evofunk). They are awesome little cars, Evofunk mini had KW3 and the car handled very well. Edwin's auto Mini S is very slugish.

I read that the changes on the R56 mini cooper on 2005 made the car night to day, I believe it was fitted with the same John cooper S supercharger and most importanly the gear ratios were shorten making it more usable.

My gilrfriend has an '08 S 6spd with lsd and I must say that short of a go cart, which honestly isn't much of a jump from the mini platform, this is the first car I've driven that is more fun than an Evo to drive.
