I went to the dark side... 06 STI
AMS are full of s^%& when it comes to STI. I had an STI and it cost my $4000 to go 12.9 so please don't try to come here and say that Evo are not reliable. first off you will see how reliable the STI are. I came over to Evo because my 06 STI just sucked A$$ and I tried to do what AMS did and the car was a complete pos. I am in no way bashing AMS because my Evo has all the upgrades + tune from AMS but when they went through that little STI project they though that they can make some money but they dropped it just as fast. STI is a good car if you want to keep it stock.

It was cheap for AMS <<<(key word here) because they can dyno tune at will and are obviously very knowledgeable with there cars. The average guy has to get the car tuned after every sticker is applied or the car will fall on it's face which can get very costly. Plus as you really get into modding (which I'm sure your not planning) the design of the engine being split in two unlike an I4 there are more parts to buy which gets expensive. But all in all don't take it personal. I would have bought a X.
And I do not like the X, nor do I like the price tag. If i would have bought an evo, it definitely would have been a IX SE or w/ SSL, with a tune, exhaust intake and call it a day. I decided to try something new and I am equally as happy.

And at least I have somewhat more of a warranty on my car... And I test drove an 06 STI with a full turboback exhaust and a tune, and it pulls quite well. More than though for me.
Yeah I don't see how you could only run a 12.9 with 4000$ in mods, assuming that's 4000$ in power mods. Locally we have been running 13.4-13.7 with just a stage 2 upgrade and that's at a high altitude on crappy gas. If they went to the next large city, they could easily be running low 13s or high 12s.

I believe that only 20% of the Evo owners know how to drive them the other are complete losers and they come here and post. You retards buy all the STI you guys want I could not care less. I went to the track and et a very respectable tuner and driver drive my STI and I still got him by .312 of a sec. Like I said go buy your STI and what not if you think that it adds more lenght to your D_ _ K then do it. Many tuners that used to post on here are all leaving the Evo scene because of retards like about 80% of the people on here.

I don't understand whats so wrong about a STI. I wouldn't mind owning a STI considering they are quite fast and i've been in this very same STI with little mods. My girlfriend didn't even have time to put the seat belt on in the back before it just zoomed away.

Maybe AMS, a premier Evo tuner is panning to STI owners on an Evo forum, much like how they pan to Evo owners on an STI forum but let's assume that they're not a bunch of monkeys and that they have some basic marketing sesne. Isn't a bit startling that they're showing such a massive increase in power with relatively minor mods?

The fact it's not an Evo is what makes it wrong. It's the same reason why people bad talk the Corvette and suggest that people skip the "***** car" (that's faster than the Evo) and just dump 30000$ in an Evo to make a loud, uncomfortable and temperamental car that can kill any Corvette....in the rain....as long as it's not from a roll.

Lol, i like cars in general. And every car is of course different. The Evolution is of course a magnificent car, but so is the STI. The other can be faster than the other or vice-versa.
