Wouldn't be much of an upgrade or a downgrade, more of a lateral move.

i just sat in one at the chicago auto show yesterday, a pretty nice car! lots of front seat space, big **** trunk! One complaint I have is that whatever metal they use on it, feels kind of weak, I pushed down on the car (back quarter panel) just to test the suspension, and it felt like I was denting it, or like I was putting a dent into it that was flexing back into its original shape. Never really felt anything like it, the evo doesnt feel like it, neither did my lexus or dsm or honda.

i wouldn't trade or sell the evo to get one but it would be a great daily, its just funny that a Hyundai isn't priced like a Hyundai anymore...

.
where did you find that info from...?

Downgrade, smaller turbo + almost the same weight = not as much fun!

Still a cool car though - Hundai did a great job - my friends all said "that's a cool car!" almost in unison when they saw the commercial!

No matter what, to get in the game you have to start somewhere. Hyundai is now making their start so why not give them the benefit of the doubt and make opinions when you test drive it? Even the EVO had to have a beginning. Let them take a stab at it, if they fail and decide to get out of the game, cool. If it ends up being a great platform, I'm sure a lot of people that had negative replies will buy one, then the bandwagoneers will jump on also. I do agree with Vmrevo9, reflashes and go-fast-bits will really wake the car up and it is an entirely different experience compared to an AWD EVO.

No, I wouldn't trade my EVO in for one just because the EVO itself is close to perfection, but my Prelude I would. Hell, I'd keep the EVO and Prelude so I can have a FWD, AWD, and RWD to play around with.

Performance wise, I'd still take the Evo over the Genesis coupe. In terms of a daily driveable, warrantied car, the Genesis may have an edge. For a new car, the Genesis offers a lot of bang for your buck.

After seeing and sitting in it at the Detroit show, I wasn't that impressed. Its decent for the price, but the interior makes an Evo 9's look like a Bentley's. The turbo model is not going to have nearly the output potential that the X has. The V6 is proving to take well to mods (intake/exhaust/tune net ~300rwhp), but its heavier, pricier, and limited mod wise short of slapping on a supercharger or turbo. I can't imagine it would perform nearly as well as a 370Z.

It'll sell well and offer decent performance for the price, but its got nothing on the Evo for performance potential/dollars spent.

Chose equal in their own way. The Evo might be a better out of the box car, but I think the Hyundai's going to be a cheap way to get a small, quick RWD car that will take well to modding. I also think that the 2.0T is going to be a better deal than the 6cyl. Weighs less and it's a factory turbo engine, so it won't take too much to get big power out of it.

I mean, srsly, a 200+ horsepower RWD turbocharged car with a price in the low $20k range. Seems like a deal to me.

That is a rare breed in recent automotive world (In terms of NEW car)

I would not get it though. I have my own preferences

The 2.0L turbo will be fun. And they have a R-spec one for tuners. Fun stuff...

This would be a good DD car. What I'm also interested in is the Toyota/Subaru Boxer RWD coupe.
