They need to take another shot at making the M1 Somebody needs to fill in the hole left by Acura for a "poor man's Ferrari"

Good comparo but you are assuming they only choose the best motor of each category because other wise they are missing 5 more M-3 (E-30 and E-36)which were fitted with lesser powerplants.

Newer is always better, but in terms of feel/enjoyment, the opposite is usually true

I think the only M3s that people really will consider to be classics is the E30 M3. At least those are the only M3s that are appreciating in price, and not depreciating, haha.

wait, who is assuming what now?
if i understand what you're saying, the author specifies at the outset the conditions of the comparison.

My Dad has an E30 M3 he bought a couple years ago. It has appreciated by about 4K already. He bought it for 11K and could easily get 15K.

wow, their e30 m3 was way overpowered compared to ours, I mean 235hp n/a 4 banger, back in those days! Is crazy, our e36 m3 put out 241 hp with the straight s50/52 motor a couple years later, whilst their put down anywhere from 286-321

THe e39 m5 has always been my favorite.
