How about an S13/S14 get them resonably priced and build it up. I have an S13 as my second car, I love the differences between it and the Evo. Its hard to say which one is more fun, but obviously in the speed catagory it is no contest. My near stock S13 weighs in at 2800lbs though and has great potential to be fast. Also note that I drove my s13 for the past two winters in Detroit weather, with this past year having record snow falls. 40 miles round trip to work on all season tires, I do know how to drive the car fairly well, and I know how it reacts under most conditions, still scary at times, but do-able.

Others to consider

VW GTI - Cheap fun FWD
MR2-S Mid engine oversteer goodness
Subaru WRX - what more can I say
Supra - expensive
G35 - $16000 gets you skyline chassis with 350z engine and alot nicer interior
Audi A4 2.0T - Nice, quite, comfortable and Flash+intake=290 HP/TQ

My $.02
Ya the supra was in but really if I am going to buy one I know I will mod the **** out of it so then it will be the same price as a ton of cars I would rather have . But the MR2 now that is a good idea. I think it just made the short list

So you've driven all these cars? And none of them feel great compared to the X... and yet you want one? Why do you want one then?

Trust me, get a good feel of driving the S, the MR2, or the 350z... while it still won't feel great, it'll feel 100x different. I've had the STi for almost 2 weeks now and it still feels like I'm driving a mini-van compared to the Porsche... and yet it can handle just as well, if not better, and accelerates even faster. It's weird how you can tell you're driving a car that is at least 500 lbs heavier...

Why not simply drive the X? What am I missing here?

If you want a cheap 2nd car just for fun, go with a Miata!

I would say the 350z. They have that certain sound to them, You know it's 350 just by the sound of it. Plus they are a great stock car, much like the Evo, but with the right parts....................the possibilities are endless

I would try my best for a IX, I've heard they are easier to get into Canada now. Best of luck
