I don't doubt it is a im provement over the GTR(less weight, even better handling, etc) I just don't think is worth it over the base GTR.

It makes the ZR1 now a bargain. It definately goes in the same basket as the ZR1, new Audi R8(v 10 engine) GT2 and ZR1.

And the crazy part is, at the end of the insideline article, the head engineer says something to the effect of "The Spec-V is not the end all high performance version of the GT-R." Like what's next, a $300,000 GT-R?
All that I remember was the bomb shell a few months ago about the Spec V being 300lbs lighter and having 530hp.... My question is where is the promised 300lbs shaving and 530hp output?
Folks, shaving 300lbs ain't easy on a production car, you have to go with exotic metals and materials to achieve that and once you are done you might not be able to make the car streetable. Going from 480hp to 530hp wouldn't be a challange a all, probably a ECU software, exhaust and air filter would yield that.
I think the GTR will sell well but not the Spec V.
Carlos.

It only has to sell well in Japan, according to this, its not being exported.

I would buy a 150k dollar skyline if I had the cash and it was built to specs that made it worth it.

I'd pay well over 100k for that thing, you could never get 100k out of me for a damn chevy however...

Trending Topics

100K+ for a used albeit factory reconditioned, tuner six year old car.
100K+ for a brand new ZR1 with a full warranty and no miles.
I like the Z tune, but its only for extreme collector types.
I agree on the used GT2 route, but the GTR can do things the GT2 cannot, where as there only a few a GT2 will do better.

True, but I'm past the days of buying on performance alone. I've seen a few GTR's in person, haven't driven one yet, but to me they are missing in the looks department. A Z06 and GT2(or 996tt clone of one) to me are drop dead gorgeous........especially the GT2. Leaving out cars like CGT, GT, Lambo, Ferrari, etc those two cars are the best looking out to me.
There was a time that all I wanted was a 150mph trapping street car. Now I'm more than content with 130 ish..........to be honest running the Z06 through 2nd 3rd hitting 130 mph happens so fast already I don't know how much more I really need......sorry little OT there.

this is the biggest letdown to hit the sports car world in a while. Like Carlos said wtf happened to the 250-300lbs. of weight savings and 530bhp for under $100k that was rumored and hyped for so long. No wonder they're not brining it to the U.S...it simply can't compete at that ridiculous price. however, the standard GT-R premium for under $80k is still awesome in my book
