Should I??
i have an 03 evo just rolled 50K that I have done some small mods to. The body has a couple imperfections but the interior is nice and its mechanically sound. I owe $11k on this.
My friend has a 93 (I think) rx7 TT with 95k miles on it. It is black and is in good shape in and out. It has a rebuilt motor in it with relatively low miles so all in all it SHOULD be reliable and clean. he wants ~$11k for this.
Should I try to ditch the evo for the fd?

I think I may just upgrade the turbo on the evo. I think the only reason I'm even considering this is because I'm bored with the evo at the moment. The other thing is I was at a car show over the weekend and saw one evo or sti for every other car that was there. idk I need to hit a road course or something.
rotaries are not garbage... ^^^ but i agree, remember the real reason y u bought it... i always have people ask me; wouldnt you trade your evo for so and so car, and am like no because the evo is the car that i been wanting to have since i was in HS... good luck man
there is no such thing as a reliable turbocharged rotary. having owed a more than mildly modded fd that was properly tuned, i am well versed on this. in the 3 years i had my fd, it went through 3 engines. most of my driving was dd stuff and i never dragged it. i was running 14psi with a proper tune through a power fc and the motors would still fail. don't get me wrong, they are GREAT cars and i believe the best looking japanese sports car ever, other than maybe a 240z or toyota 2000. i have driven my built evo that usually runs 30psi or more for 25k miles without a glitch. mod your car and be happy it's not broken.

The evo is such a solid platform, the fc can't touch that. But the fc is a bit more exclusive (less common) and has grabs more attention (sex appeal if you will).
You know I got my evo for me, the same reason I've ever owned a mitsu. They have always treated me right and I'm still having a blast in them. I guess I can't justify the fd cause my main reason to get it is because it will get more attention or compliments from other people.
I own an evo and still dream about what I want my evo to be. I don't have an fd and I don't dream about having a fd. I think I gotta keep the evo.

As much the hype for RX7, no rotary is 'reliable'... Keep the Evo, pay it off. THEN come back and buy a RX7 as a fun toy. my 2 cents. Oh yeah, not to mention you are trading down TEN years on the chassis. That's a DECADE.
The rotary is a hassle. The few owners that owned that I know off told me the same thing. In reality there are not many shops that are willing to even touch it, basically you are the army of one if you buy this car.
It is not popular at all and it is a high price to pay if you decide to start modding it. Definately stick with the Evo which it can be service and maintain at a relatively good cost with parts available everywhere.
The RX7 is one of the most exotics cars put on the street, unfortunately the powerplant was never supported and accepted by the community.
