I got my 97 E36 M3 couple about a year ago for 6000, with 101,000 miles on it, I daily drive the hell out of it, and my Evo sits in the garage. Those M's are great cars..

If you slam your M3 like that green car with the ski racks and put on 18's that car is going to punish you on city streets. Your IX doesn't look that low.

How are you coming up with 1290??? should be no tax. Your trade value is higher than the car your buying. Title transfer and plate fee should only be 120-200 tops with a slight refund depending on when your birthday falls. You will use your existing plate unless its almost timed out. Dealer fee shouldn't be any more than $495 on a transaction like this also.

My suggestion is refinance the evo for 72 months to drop the payment and make extra payments when you can. Then you dont have to make a huge step backwards. Good luck regardless..

WOW! I am sorry that you had to trade in the EVO but sometimes you have to sacrifice something. My older brother had a 97' M3 which I helped him to buy from the dealer(made the color choice, etc), he then traded in for a 98', later he purchased a 2003 M3 so I have driven them and I have a very good idea.

You are getting yourself into a stepdown car performance wise but this is a temprary thing since you are going to school. I don't think you would be dissapointed but the thing about BMW is that they do face lifts and model changes too often and a 4 year old BMW is old so a 95 looks also old as well. Good car though.

Check those rubber driveshaft bushings, they go bad too often.

I owe $15,500
There buying my car for $20,500
That leaves me with $5,000
M3 price is $5,995 ($6,000)
He said I will need new plates and some kind of 3rd buyer thing.... Because the Evo was under my uncles name...
So he said I will have to owe them $1,290

Does that sound right?
