Honda s2000 vs C5 Corvette
Honda s2000 vs C5 Corvette
I was wondering which car you people here would preffer and why. I personally would rather have a Honda s2000 due to it's drivers car nature, fun factor, slick shifting 6 speed and I feel it overall is one of the best pure sports cars built in regard to feedback, manners and feel. My friend begs to differ though, he says the s2000 is too slow and indeed MORE of a midlife crisis car than the C5 Corvette. I feel however that how fast the car is not a priority when deciding on what car is better overall.
I have had a significant amount of seat time in both of them and while I appreciate the power of an LS1 over that of the s2000 I feel that overall the s2000 is the better car.
Pick one and tell us why.

I would agree with feels large and heavy part. I think the overall fun factor of the S2000 would be better than the power of the C5. Also, IMO the reliability of the S2000 is better than any GM product. Just my 2 cents.
I have had both(2001 C5 Targa, 2005 S2K), and I enjoyed the Corvette a little more. Both cars are reliable, easy to work on, get great gas mileage and are a blast to drive. the s2k is easier to throw around, but the corvette handles great too and has a ton more power. Good luck, you have a "tough" decision ahead of yourself.
Never have driven a C5 but love my C6 Z06.
The C5 and S2000 are completely different cars though. I would put the S2000 more in line with my RX8. Not super fast, but great handling and great gearbox. I've been lucky enough to own both kinds of car. I would hate to have to decide between the two. I have driven the S2000. It was very fun to drive but I was very cramped. I can't make an educated decision between the two not having owned either, but they would both be good in their own way.
The C5 is nowhere near the car that the C6 is though. GM made some huge improvements with the C6.
Have a great one,
James

S2000 is a GREAT car. Great enough to make you feel like you and the car/road are 1. As gay as that sounds its true. Even my Evo felt small and close to the ground, making the turns predictable and the way how your car behaves is how you tell it to.
For me, the vette was just oversized IMO. When you sit in the driver seat, it seems like the front is super long and super wide, almost like your driving a buick, just not as extreme and on a different level.
I prefer the s2000 do to the quality of the interior, the way how it stands out and doesn't say MIDLIFE CRISIS the way the vette does, and its performance capabilities.

You kidding? Tell that to the Turbo S2000 guys who are lifting the front tire off the ground like muscle car's do....

I'll still say, two great cars for two different kinds of driving experiences.
