Over here in MA the same exact car with a little less miles went for 2wice that, I'd suggest keep looking, smells like fish. Dont get a car w/a salvage title, you'll thank yourself later.

Good. When you finish HS, you should go to Purdue. By the way, where is the car located?

Nah, I went there. Notice the current area code is 408? Hey I've got some friends around there, if you can find out the name of the current owner I may (or may not) be able to dig up some other info for you. Worth a shot, no?

DON'T pay for a salvaged car for 9k with only a b16a2. it's 160bhp... so much less than the 195+ the ITR has. not worth it. find a damn 3k 94 civic hatchback and drop a b18c in it for like 7-8k altogether.

it's an INTEGRA... with a CIVIC engine.

they kind of flopped that mother****er around eh?

So what if it's got a B18C5? You don't buy a TypeR for its motor, you buy it for its track performance. You want power? Stay away from a stock Honda motor. You want a B series motor that can perform relatively well? Build your own (read: LS/VTEC).

oh thanks for reminding me, is the b16a2 a Vtec? I dont really know much about engines, and do you think this is a worthwhile buy Type III? And is the b16a2 still pretty good? I like the looks of the type R, but since it doesnt have the type r motor in it anymore, im afraid ill be called a poser and so on.

I'm not a Honda guy myself, so actually I don't know much about the B16A2 either. Well, whatever it may be, it probably doesn't offer much but regardless... Who cares? If it really is that cheap, and if the chassis and suspension is in good shape, I think it's a good buy. People who buy a Type R for its power are posers.

I think you're getting raped on this deal. Obviously you're losing displacement from the original b18c5... and if you don't already know, b18c5 is around $5-6k and a b16a2 is around $2-3k. Why?... A Type R with a '99-00 Civic Si engine isn't exactly what people would be expecting for power. First off, you've lost a considerable amount of torque in the .2 liters of displacement. Secondly, you've lost about 27hp. I'd look into getting an Integra GSR instead... 'cause you're going to get beat by them in your "Type R"!

Obviously the B16A2 will go eventually, but the point is that you don't buy a TypeR for its straight line performance. The B18C5 is so expensive only because of all the hype it gets from ricers world wide. Sure, it's a decent performing motor for its size but like I said before, it certainly is no God's gift to the automotive world. You'd have to be pretty dumb to drop $5~6k and swap that motor back in the TypeR. With Honda's you have so many other options when it comes to hybrid motor, so why is he getting raped on this deal when he can get the car with a good chassis and suspension for cheap, and build another motor for a relatively low cost?

If you want something fast, get the ITR... Unless you were talking about getting an EVO.
