i will imagine this car to look great
after all
its the succession of the AE86
they need to make this right
or else they are screwed...
hopefully this car wont cost a bomb
but i still dont like the idea of a boxer engine, its just so not mod friendly...hopefully they have different engine variant to choose from, that would be great

Most likely it won't be anywhere near 2100lbs it was 25 years ago. Back then it was still a porker compared to CRX Si that came couple years after, which was somewhere in 1800lbs. Considering the same trend, the car is going to weigh about 3000-3200lbs at least.
It is most likely going to have a lot of hardware from WRX (such as brakes, 5 speed transmission etc) for the 'base' model which is most likely going to have the EJ20 in NA form, probably still revving to 8krpm and compression ratio close to 12.0:1, meaning it would be around 230-250bhp. I am thinking it would be no more than 2-3k cheaper compared to WRX even though usually joint project cars are very good value. There is some speculation that there will also be a turbocharged version, which I assume that it would have a lot of STI components and cost slightly over 30k, if it ever makes it to North American market. The JDM EJ20 is pretty stout, although it will still have issues like upgrading cams or changing spark plugs.
If there were a different engine to be put in, I don't see any other choice than the Toyota's 3.5 V6. If that happens, it is going to have the same problem as Nissan's VQ engine, questionable refinement at high rev and expensive mods.

My beef is that know how Toyota does things if they do opt to put in a 6cyl they will probably market that model less for the tuner crowd and more for the "I want to feel young again" crowd
