sold the evo. lotus exige s delivered today
We did a full install in my friend's Exige S, and it came out so nice. But OMFG that flip out DVD install was the biggest PITA... to get everything to mount on the underside of that dash took FOREVER.
He had the sub too, and an Alpine digital amp in the back. And yes... He ran them THROUGH the frame rails...

yea the best thing to do is put it in the stock location and modify the wiper stalk to clear the screen. going to pick her up in an hour or so. cant wait o have it back.. this chevy cobalt is making me want to off myself.. thank god we dont have to drive boring cars!
its finally snowing here in boston. luckily i have the day off to test it out in the snow. blizzak ws60 and traction control make for a great combination. Lotus of New England told me these were the first snow tires they had ever mounted on a lotus
onto the driving impressions
first few corners were a bit interesting, as this is my first mid engine rwd car. before this its been all jeeps (3) and the evo, which was a beast in the snow.
i wouldnt call the lotus a beast, but with traciton control and proper tires, this car is capable. traction control kicks in hard. literally cuts out all the power. you couldnt slide in this without really trying. certainly cant throttle steer. but all in all it felt pretty stable and confident in the weather. besides, if/when the weather is worse than this, everything shuts down and i wont have to drive anywhere to begin with.
i will say, im thinking about putting a flag on the roof or something so people see me when i try to pull out on corners with all snow banks.

only annoying things are the attention it gets, and being first in line at a light and not being able to see when it turns green. o and i find myself driving with the traction control off. i think with the really narrow snow tires, the system is ultra sensitive, and cuts the throttle at odd times. o yea, the stereo is god awful. i need to upgrade the speakers. they make adapter rings so you can fit larger speakers front and rear (5.25 vs 4 front. 6.5 vs 5.25 rear)
its been weird adjusting to the attention the car gets. to date ive been pulled over twice just so the cop could ask about the car, and i lost track of all the people who have taken pics ect. getting gas is still a 10 min job. i was even flagged down yesterday by an orange Murcielago... that was pretty cool. the car was also a huge hit at the porsche dealer when i went to pick up my moms 997tt.
blk.evil- yea i could have gotten a new m3. but then again there are 3.. yes 3 e9x m3 (2 coupes 1 sedan) in my parking garage, and 2 e46. must be on sale or something?
. i bought this car because its of everything it leaves out, and everything its not. and its certainly not a m3.
