Seriously. For 30k and under coming from an EVO8, has anyone made a change and actually been happy for more than 6 months?

Does the Evo truly ruin/spoil you from enjoying other cars?

Well I have yet to get an Evo so I can't say. But I will give you a free bump and tell you that in the AWD/Turbo categories I don't think people enjoy their next vehicles. The Evo owns those categories. I think if you get another car, you need to go in a different direction like an old muscle car to enjoy another car.

There are plenty of people who have gone from the Evo to another car and been quite happy, the Evo isn't the end all answer to cars just as any other car is not the end all answer to cars, it's personal preference really.

It's important to recognize that different people have different taste when it comes to cars and different priorities. A father of three isn't likely going to want a car like the Evo if he's expected to haul his kids around, all their gear, etc. Similarly, if someone is expected to drive work client's around, they may want something that gives off less of a boy racer vibe. It's doesn't diminish the Evo's stunning out of the box performance, nor should it diminish your own affection towards the car.

I bought an 08 STi and I like it as much as my EVO VIII. It's a great car and a much better DD without giving up much. It lacks the rawness of the EVO, but is more practical and just as fun to drive.

That's what I hear from a lot of people. Softer ride and suspension then?

Softer yes, but still takes the clover leafs as fast as my EVO. Put the Select Drive in Intelligent mode and it drives like a Civic in traffic and around town. Put it in Sport Sharp and you have instant torque and 300+ hp. It has lots of space in the hatch and the seats fold for even more space. I still have my EVO with a 35R and love it, but I love my nearly stock STi also. Since I spun a rod bearing, my STi is actually faster than my EVO and more fun to drive since the EVO is on jack stands waiting for a 2.4.

I think some people are missing the point, but I could be too.

I don't see the OP coming off as the Evo being godly, but it is a good question for that price range after you've owned an Evo, what could you be happy with knowing where you came from. Yes, the next car might present itself better for your career, or might fit your family better, or might have better creature comforts, but for what the Evo provides in raw power/handling, I don't know that I would be happy with those other items mentioned.

I know plenty of people that have been happy with their cars after the Evo, but they usually upgraded to something that costs more, or would cost more if purchased new. Amby makes a good point in that everyone has different tastes. Obviously that is the case since there aren't that many Evos compared to the other models mentioned.

I happen to be a father of 3 and can fit all the crap for our family in the Evo, so I don't think I personally could be happier with another car in the price range. I suppose the STi would be the closest but I'm not fond of the styling.

Thanks for responding for me. Basically everything I was about to say.

Agreed. If I was looking to sell my car because of a change in profession or because I was starting a family, I would know what I had to give up in order to get what I now needed. In this instance, that is not the case.
