Bye bye Evo, Hello C6
Yes but you pay a premium for that is merely my point. If your talkin about buying a car to race as a weekend only car you are gonna mod it. The Evo gives you a great platform to work with and a nice budget left over to turn your car into the race car you want.
I mean you can race a stock Vette but lets be serious, if you want to be competitive then that's not the best of choices.
I respect his opinion I do not respect his complete dismal of the Evo.

This is about how the Evo is no longer the right car for me. The C6 is. THIS C6 is. Price, performance, options, color, layout, style, aftermarket, quality, condition...it's all FOR ME 100%. I loved my Evo but I have zero regrets in moving to this new car. ZERO.
That is what this thread's about.
$30k for a tin can with a $15k drivetrain is not paying a premium? Used, they are about the same as an Evo price-wise (within 5-7k).
And yes, many race Vettes in stock form. They are very competitive out of the box in their class. I was just at a HPDE/TT where they were running fast times with nothing more than gas. You should check out the NASA and SCCA - they hold there own in their classes.
You are all trying to compare cars that are not even in the same class.
The truth to racing is that there is always someone with deeper pockets and more mods to their car.

I'd love to and will be getting heavy into the SCCA stuff when I get back from Iraq but even still there is a class for stock and a class for modified.
As far as used like I said I dont know much about the Vette so I took the average of an 06 Vette and the average of the 06 Evo and the Evo was about 11k cheaper.
If you were to give me 50k and someone else 50k and we had to buy cars new and whatever was left was for moding where would we be? I'd pick the evo hands down.

Well it's easier to swallow when you say 15k econo car with a 15k powertrain

The point, again, is what if you don't want to mod your car? Not everyone wants to.
This thread isn't about you, champ. It isn't about the perfect all-around sports car (which is a mythical creature). It isn't about how economical or practical a car purchase is. It certainly isn't about how much I respect your opinion (I don't, at all).

I've seen the Vette it looks nice it has nice output and great power to weight ratio but I'm still not all that impressed. For a super car its a little blah the ZR1 is like 100k or so...why?
You want to move on from the Evo that's cool but don't came at me like a keyboard tough guy.
Some flaws to logic here - so you are saying these things without being in the sport? No offense, but you are making assumptions without being in the SCCA/NASA. When you get into the sport, you will see and learn more about it.
The point, again, is what if you don't want to mod your car? Not everyone wants to.
