I may and up getting a lexus IS. are they generally good cars, what problems do they have?

 

The Is is a great car. i had mad fun driving my friends. No problems that i know of. If your looking to do some mods and dun want a civic the IS 300 is also a good start. Plus even stock it looks hot and is equally powerful.

 

its alright...it isnt as good as the bmw 3 series or mercedes c class...but its cheap so i guess its ok. i never liked lexus at all. they are slower, dont handle as well, and do not even have as good luxury amenities as bmw/mb.

 

In general the IS series cars were built to go against the small luxury car market such as BM 3 series. The car is well built but no still no German finish quality and definitely no screamer�cremember the saying what you pay is what you get and that sums it up. I don�ft know what is offered in the US, but if the IS300 is offered go for that. It uses the same 2JZ-GE engine as the GS300 which is also same as the non-turbo Supra. With the 3L it gives a healthy torque curve but still no performer. But that can be easily fixed, find a 2JZ-GTE turbo or better still a front cut Supra RZ and you�fll be laughing�cnow you have yourself a one of the best sleepers around.

IS300 is an awsome car youd should get it, i love them when i sat in one i fell in love with it. THey have Lots of potential and lots of stock power. Id get one in a heartbeat if i had the chance.

 

For the price there's a lot of other cars I'd rather own, but the IS 300 sure does look nice. I certainly couldn't argue that it's not worth the cost. Whatever you decide, good luck and enjoy the car.

 

I saw a very rare Lexus Altezza this morning (Altezza badge in place of the IS300 one). At least he was close in his badging (Also had many other stickers all over the car). If only he had the turbo.

 

I saw one of those too.....wtf is that? I thought at the time it was some knob advertizing his lights???

 

It's a very good platform to start with, relatively small car, long wheelbase for its size, RWD, bulletproof bottom-end. However, the downside it relatively expensive, in its own cost and parts The stage-1 turbo kit costs from $6,500 and up

 

The Lexus IS is the worst car Lexus has ever made, even though they have never made good ones! For starters the IS has a weak low end torque level, not good for those jumps off the red light. The IS is also very very expensive to upgrade, since there are not too many after market products for them, also to me, they look retarded. For the price you'll end up spending on the Lexus IS, buy an S2000 or if youre into the sedan, buy a Mini Cooper

 

The Lexus IS300 is a great car and its not the worst car that lexus has ever made. It maybe slow in first gear but its fast after that. The start isnt even that bad with one if you know how to drive. It is expensive to upgrade but its all worth it and there are plenty of aftermarket parts for the car. It has the N/A supra engine. Id take a IS over a s2k and a IS and wreck a mini cooper-s anyways that and your GS spyder.

 

what about the sc400? toyota reliability and is it fr??( )

 

AFAIK, the GS, IS and SC are all FR, not sure about the LS..

 

Lan Evo, have you even drove the IS yet? And what was that about driving? I mean you are talking to someone who street races as his life and hobby .
