Lexus LFA Stops by Forged Performance.
sure they can compare, in general. but nitpicking at exact 'numbers', may not be fair...
certainly the specs/dimensions/performance would suggest that these 2 are aiming for each other, but toyota had something else in mind for the LFA. the 458 was meant to be a regular production supercar, readily available to anyone with $250k (well that, and another $30-60k under the table, so that the dealer actually gets them one today, rather than 3 years from now
), while the LFA was designed solely with exclusivity in mind.
besides, whether or not the ferrari is faster by ~2 seconds around some track, or .03 faster in the 1/4 is barely a valid argument! ferrari has been making supercars for 60 years... their latest model better be faster than toyotas first "attempt".

not to be an ***, but I'm confused about the whole 'this is a preproduction' thing there are none available yet to customers, etc. When there's another thread in here of an LFA that is seemingly already in the possession of a guy in jersey. Did you take all this info from kind of an old thread elsewhere or is toyota just feeding this guy a line of bull?
This yellow LFA just left New Jersey. I'm sure it is the same one.
I can assure you from the corporate rep that came by there are only 2 in the country. One on the east coast, and one on the west coast. They are going to dealerships, events, shows, and letting the people who have already purchased one spend some time with it.

My sister works for Donald Trump at Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster, NJ.
She said that the Lexus rep was there and that NO ONE owns this car and this is the pre-production model, they were there letting anyone who was a member of the club drive it and take a test drive to potentially sell more of them.
the LFA was developed for PR purposes, only to be sold to those, who already own 7 Ferraris, and are not looking for 'ultimate' performance
But if all people look for is 'bang for the buck', then we all know the best solution is a vette....
Nice
Right on Sharif......I wish I was up there long enough to see this car arrive to Forged Performance. I recently had work done with your shop and very pleased and impressed with the staff. My Evo RS feels great and crisp in the shifts. Hopefully I will be in your shop soon for more work.
Great review of the LF-A. Very lucky to experience a ride like that.

again, you cant compare prices... You, meaning a reasonable enthusiast and car nut, who one day has a chance to own a Ferrari.

I still think the price should warrant something MUCH more amazing and powerful. Sure it is a great car but the price knocks it way down, PR tool or not it needs to be a true giant killer and it is not. At the base price of US$375,000 it down right stinks in terms of performance I mean that has to be equated.
and in general, performance is subjective as much as it is objective, and not always what the potential buyer is looking for. a $20 casio will tell time as good, as a $80,000 patek philippe. but thats always the aspect what you base the price on, when buying a watch
I don't know if each one to be produced has been sold. I was just relaying what my sister said that the rep said.I mean it makes sense if the rep goes to a place like Trump National Golf Course where the annual membership fee is $20,000 and the initiation fee of $150,000 that these people have the money to buy whatever they wish.
If someone was interested in getting their hands on something like this then it would most likely go up the chain of command and they would take note and if there was a strong enough demand maybe Lexus would consider producing more.
She said 2 of her members got the chance to drive it and they did not have one on order but loved the car
I personally think that the price tag is out of control but then again there is always a price tag attached to exclusivity
That's what I mean, that is the impression that Lexus' PR machine has indicated. That the entire production run of the vehicle has been sold out. They sent out letters to people whom they deemed worthy to own the car, and enough of them have supposedly put their deposits down to have the entire run of cars spoken for.
It doesn't surprise me that you got a different story from the rep your sister spoke to, as in I don't believe they have sold all the cars already.

^ah gotcha now I know what your saying, yeah I called her this afternoon and talked to her more about it and from what I could gather (her not being that into cars besides saying they "look pretty"
) it sounds like they were trying to encourage interest to buy.
