Cobalt SS or Gen Coupe?
I'm looking at picking up a new DD and am looking at either the 2010 Cobalt SS or 2010 Genesis Coupe R-Spec. I can get the SS for about $17.8K and the GC for about $18-19K. I don't plan on doing a lot of modding to the car, so that isn't a big factor. I also don't plan to track it. I'm just looking for a new car that's fun to drive to and from work.
gen hands down. drove the 2.0T version. not that fast, but fun to drive. handles well (less a little body roll), decent pick up, rwd is a huge plus, and tranny shifts smooth as butter. fun car for the price. an exhaust, lower it, and some wheels and you have an awesome DD.

Thanks for the input guys. I really appreciate it. I just found an 09 Ralliart for sale locally. I may have to check it out, just in case I head in that direction.

One other option I have is an 02 Civic Si. I bought for my son to drive, but he blew the engine in it. It's now in the shop getting a K24 swap and my son now drives a 99 Chevy Metro. I could always get that car back on the road and sell my current car (06 tC). Decisions, decisions.
Cobalt SS. You want a DD, might as well get one with better gas mileage and they have good aftermarket support and gain well on minimal mods. For those who think FWD sucks just don't know how to drive it fast.
My buddy actually bought a Cobalt SS/TC for himself and his gf got a Genesis coupe but the v6 model. The cobalt is nice but the fwd is no fun in cold weather even stock, wheel hops and spins the tires even from a little roll...plus I think its a little more cramped.

I live in FL so the cold isn't too bad here, but I get what you're saying. As far as cramped, I'd rarely use the back seat. Only if my kids need a ride to school would I use it.
one of the dumbest things ive herd. fwd is always slower. no matter if its in a stright line or around a track
