Hell, the V8s seem to be working for Toyota in te JGTC...

I dont really like the new concepts. It seems that Toyota is trying to combine the 2000gt and Supra and bring it to the future. The Supra's styling, IMO, is perfect. It dosnt need to be changed.

A true turbo engine will be built to properly utilize a turbo. Low compression pistons, forged internals, oil squirtering piston coolers, etc. The VQ is a high compression NA machine, so slapping a turbo kit on it without properly tuning it will not yield high results.

Unfortunatley, even in Japan, the Z is still in NA form, only. The rumor mill is buzzing about a turbo version coming in the upcoming model year
If the VQ was developed only as a N/A motor, how come Nismo is having great results turbo charging it in JGTC?

because they do all the neccessary steps to turbo it. new low compression pistons, proper tuning. Just slapping a turbo kit on a motor that was meant to be NA just won't cut it. Go to the turbo section of the lancer forums and you'll see they can't boost past 7 psi because of internal weaknesses.

Look at my engine, the SR20DET. It came from the factory turbo charged, but Nissan also had the SR20DE which was the non-turbo version found in the Silvia J's and Q's. My engine is a turbo engine, but the DE isn't, and they both came from the factory with different internal setups.

Nismo is Nissan's in house tuner, so I would hope that Nismo would properly do a VQ35DET. Especially if they're competing. That's why they're having great results in the JGTC. They didn't take a factory VQ35DE and just simply slap a turbo on it.

I hear you, you are right, I think the greddy kit is set at 8psi to protect the motor which is N/A.

I however disagree that since it was never a turbo engine in the first place does not allow it to be made into one. The VQ is such a strong over engineered engine that trubo charging it would be easy with the right mods done. Tunning shops all over Japan have not stoped turbo charging the VQ in the 350Z because it is a N/A motor.

yep those race cars always have all kinds of internal modifications to be able to handle the type of power they are making.

Which is what I've been saying. I said
A true turbo engine will be built to properly utilize a turbo
Which means you can make a turbo engine, but slapping a bolt on kit does not make an engine a turbo engine. The block needs to be rebuilt to properly use the potential of the turbo.

Well I work at a Nissan Dealer and I keep well informed on new models. There is no plan at this time for a 350z TT. But maybe in the future.

I dont think nissan will ever make 350TT, becouse highest PS in Japan is 280 (from the deal with corporations), and regular 350 is already at that point.
Is there any Jap car in US making over 280HP?, coz I can only think of WRX STI.

I can't think of one mainly due to the power rating ceiling. that and we usually get watered down versions of their cars anyways.
