Should Mitsubishi response to the new Ferrari 458?
As we all know, Mitsubishi has been heavily, yet legally, "influenced" by some of the most successful cars in the last few decades.

Left: Mitsubishi 3000GT; Right: Ferrari 348

Left: Mitsubishi Galant; Right: BMW 5 (E39)
Yet mechanically Mitsubishi is by no means inferior to its rivals. 4G63T and 6A13TT have been long respected and 6G72TT didn't disappoint Mitsu fans either.
However, it seems Mitsubishi is not keeping up in the past few years, with 3000GT's production suspended, Galant and Eclipse being no more DSM monsters, and Evo quitting WRC.

Ferrari 458 Italia, with ASI body kit.
Nevertheless its rivals have kept going recently. Ferrari has released their new 458. Mitsubishi, why don't you "de-escalate" your MiEV nonsense and build us a new 3000GT/GTO, as a response to those overpriced European show cars?

3000GT VR4 was retailing for 45 grand when it was discontinued in 1999. Supras were also over 40 grand. The natural evolution of the twin turbo 6 cylinder Japanese sports car is the GT-R, which is 90 grand (started as 70 grand).
It isn't cheap building those kinds of cars, and the market for them is tiny. Even the GTR which slays exotics all day is massively outsold by Porsche.
Mitsubishi right now needs to get it's financial cards in order, and technology like iMiev is much more promising from a financial point of view then big gas wasting super cars at this point.
