Ecplise GSX

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if a Ecplise GSX is a all-wheel drive car and it has a 4G63 engine; is it possible to drop a Evolution VII engine with the ACD and AYC into the Ecplise.
I think it woule be cool if that was possible but i think you have to put the Evo VII engine sideways ??? I think.

Am not really sure.

Reply would be great
Thanks.

PS- I had tried searching for the topic but all I found were mirage conversion stuff.

it would be a better idea to upgrade the front with a quaife and the center with a 4-gear spider diff. transferring the EVO engine with tranny would be such a ***** it hurts my brain to think about it.

the first ***** would be the fact that the EVO engine and the Eclipse engine are reversed. from there the issue's would just keep on coming.

you can get a GSX handling damn good with basic upgrades to the suspension and front and center diffs.

you can get a quaife from www.roadraceengineering.com and good suspensions upgrades.

i'm not sure if you can get the upgraded center diff from them, but i know you can get that from BM tranny. i think their site is www.bmtranny.com, but i'm not sure

Wow. Well since you owned a GSX and it seems now you own a Evolution VIII; how you compare and constrast the two in your own opinion?

evo's from 4 on up (i think) have a completly opposite orientation from eclipses, and nothing just bolts in.

Thats Okay. The reason am asking all these questions is since I can't get an Evo so am gonna have to go with the few step downs. I like AWD.

honestly, out of the box. the EVO is a totally different car. a GSX stock is bouncy with somewhat crappy handling, a tiny tiny turbo, and really ****ty brakes. with proper upgrades, the GSX can hang with and/or beat the **** out of most EVO's. My GSX was running a Forced Performance Green turbo which was capable of 500+hp and was running 11's when i sold it. but that was after a lot of mods and money into the car in engine, handling, and brake upgrades.

basically, the GSX has a similar platform to the EVO but is detuned to hell from the factory. if you plan on getting one for say $9,000, to have a car that'll hang or beat an EVO plan on spending another 9 grand on upgrades. Still for under 20k, you'll have a nasty street car, but stock vs. stock, there is no comparison

Yeah, That does make sense. I guess you just have to modify it correctly to get what you want out of it.
