Engines with the worst sounding exhaust ever?
#34
I would much rather hear any of them than say an 88 camaro z28, and still noone with the m3? There isnt an exhaust in the world to make this thing sound good.

I don't care for Subaru's sound, but as far as boxer's go Porsche's sound MUCH better! I despise how E46 M3's sound - but there is a reason why they do sound that way. The US version sound much raspier than the Euro versions. US bound M3's have the cats moved up closer to the engine, thusly having this loooong section of pipe between the cat's & the muffler - amplifying that tingy rattle sound . The other factor is it's a straight 6. Supra's sound different from M3's all thanks to the exhaust design, but if you listen closely that signature straight-6 sound still comes through.
Here's another on my not-so-hot list not mentioned yet. GTR. You want me to pay $90K for a car with an exhaust like that???? Again, crappy sound from a V6. A GTR with the greatest exhaust system could DREAM of sounding like an exotic (like a Ferrari with a titanium exhaust!) I have respect for the GTR for what it's capable of, but I'm of the opinion that the exhaust note doesn't even come close to reflecting the GTR's greatness in other fields. To each his own though...

I love the rumble of a boxer, and my friend has a 350z WOT in that thing sounds amazing.
But yeah I hate the sound of a slow *** honda with a cheap fart can, so annoying when they rev them to the moon.

I actually like the sounds of the 4.6, 3.5, 3.0, and half of the time I like the 2.5. When I hear them before I see them, I think it's a harley though.
One of my favorite sounding engines is the VW VR6.
The GT-R sounds amazing to me with the Password JDM exhaust: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih1A5...e_gdata_player

FYI guys there is no such thing as the "BOXER RUMBLE"...what gives the rumble is the oem unequally manifold runners length, have you heard what the boxer sound on an aftermarket exhaust manifold with equally runners in length? It does not rumble. The same with the porsche.

I totally agree on the the exhaust sound from VQ's and whatever else they put in the Nissan/Infiniti Z/G. With stock or aftermarket exhaust these cars sound like autistic vacuum cleaners.
The Subie though? I don't like how I've never encountered a fast one where I live but I do like that they sound cool.
I don't get how OP's list doesn't include B and H series engines from Honda. Everything he stated was opinion but we all know it is undisputed fact that B and H series sound like ****. Even if it's a finely tuned awesomely running high power engine with some super expensive high quality exhaust.
