The evo's little brother. What are your thoughts on the 1g and 2g eclipses running the 4g63 motors?

I bet 75% of the guys on this forum are old dsmers. I know I am. Dsms are beasts man. Can be picked up for cheap, modded relatively cheap and run with the rest of them.

I miss my 1g everyday.

DSMs 4g63 is just as bullet proof BUt the car itself was the biggest POS ever, things constantly breaking, weak drivetrain, weak t-case, weak everything ohh yea loved to rust.
Evo's 4g63 is much better, great head flow, updated valve train, forged pistons and can handle up to 700whp without breaking a sweat. The drive train is a lot stronger and can handle a decent amount of abuse, ohh yeah nothing rattles while driving
Yeah most of use have started with DSMs but when i switched to an Evo it was like day and nigh difference.

this!!!!! :d

Big problem now is, you cant find a decent dsm, or they are very hard to find. So many of them are just torn to **** now. They have been beaten to hell by novice drivers, neglected and not maintained.

I would love to have another 1g, but its gonna be one of those gold mines that have under 50k miles, all original lol. Come across a few over the last few years, but didnt have the cash at the moment.

Ive always liked dsms. Of all the import days, drag racing events, street racing, DSMS were always the fastest. There was always talk of "Fast Mustang, Fast Supra, 500hp civic" But at the end of the day, a 91 Talon ends up winning the event.

Random Parking Lot Car discussion
Gear Head 1: "Yeah, thats Brads Trans Am. It has 150 shot and runs 11's"
Gear Head 2: "Couple of weeks ago, Brad was racing some white mitsubishi talon, or eclipse or something, and it blew his doors off bad!.....The race was over from the start"

I used to love those stories of random dsms that no one knew of. Or when your at the drag strip and you hear someone yell "Hey, watch this thing launch!"

My DSMs were my gateway drug. Love hate realtionship with them,, fun when they were running. Nightmare when they werent. I did all the preventitive work and still had issues. I am hoping my Evo 9 is more reliable..
